The world destroyed itself before I could experience anything, or that was what it seemed like when I was 10 years old. I'm seventeen now, and I've taught myself more than I ever would've thought I could. I didn't believe I would survive. Many things were mutated, I had to fight on my own to survive against rabid animals that were fused together, ever seen a Gorilla and a Rabbit fused, yeah, that.
You wouldn't have thought that something so small as a cough had caused all this, but it did. A virus, that not only affected humans, but animals as well, and since animals are vulnerable, you can guess what it did to them. I haven't seen a human become mutated by the virus, all of them are dead, that's what I could believe.
There were no humans left, at least from what I've seen, I remember the last faint memory of my mother, shielding me from a fused monster, she said we would escape this nightmare together, that the heavens would come and rain down on us. That we would be able to live a normal life again. That didn't happen, it was worse for me, and now. She's dead.
But you live, you learn, you adapt to the resources you have around you, and that is why I survived this long. Till this day, this diary will prove that humanity can survive in ways others cannot perceive. Unless the sun blows up of course, then no trace of life will be found anywhere in our solar system, I still wonder if there's a different reality where this didn't happen. Either way, this is day 2576 of me surviving out here in the wilderness, I might be going crazy, not having any real human interaction is taking a toll on me. But who cares, no one, because I'm alone.
I closed my diary and put it in my bag.
I'm glad that instead of being in a forest, I'm in a city, although it's a fight for survival out here, having to fight almost every day against rabid animals' just to get food, it really does something to your body.
I looked out the window. The city was ruins, ruins and ruins, I don't know how I survived. It's not light to put it.
Surprisingly, the most that has happened to me was being thrown at least 16 feet, which sucked, I beat it though, somehow, adrenaline really comes in handy.
I sighed to myself and got up from off the floor, I grabbed my bag. Time to go and hunt for food again, which might just be cold spaghetti in a can, how fun.
I headed out the door and into the heart of the city.
I pulled out an axe that I found from a random apartment, why would someone even have an axe in their apartment? I guess maybe in case of a break in.
Silence shrouded me, which was surprising, usually I would hear at least a crunch, a mutated animal crunching on something, or maybe something was just off. I didn't like this feeling.
A shiver went down my back, I was suddenly filled with unease. Why did I feel like this...as if something had changed.
Never mind, I'm overreacting, I hate myself for this, for the way I hallucinate for hope. For the way I believe every damn time someone's here to save me, to hug me, to know that I'm not alone.
But I am alone, I've been alone for 7 years, why am I surprised.
Then a strike of pain hit me in my gut. Damn...caught off guard...I was like a sitting duck standing out in the street after all...
I groaned in pain, clutching my gut as I got up off the floor. Of course...I'm weak right? Of course I am, I can't stand anything...I can't...
I teared up.
Then I heard a voice, a real, human voice...why...why does my hope have to come like this...
"A human, out here? In this world?" They then scoffed; I could make out from the voice that they were a girl, even from her voice, she sounded badass.
