The Contract (Part 13)

Start from the beginning

"So you're really going to let Adam on the birth certificate?" he asked.

I nod. "Yup, we been talking about names," I tell him. "So fat, he said no to Dove," I tell him.

"Smart choice," dad says. "I'm going to go if you need me. You know where I am."

I nod, I'm left alone once again. I waited awhile before crossing over to Adam's room. I kock at his door.

"It's open," He says.

I step in, he's sits at his bed looking up as I step in he smiles. "I half expected it to be your mother or someone else," he says.

"Mom left dad said she was pissed." I tell him.

"You get the same talk I did," He asked.

"Probably, we have rules," I ask.

"Yup," He says, "so, baby names."

I smile, sitting beside him. "What's a name you like?" I ask him.

"Wenter," He says.

"Ok, but can we spell it, Wynter?" I ask.

He smiles. "Yes, Wynter Graham." He says.

I smile, leaning towards him. I kiss his lips. His arms wrap around me, but I back away. I wasn't ready for that yet.

"I can't." I tell him.

"It's ok, I can wait for you," he says.

I smile again, my lips find his again. I enjoy the kiss this time without worrying about him going too far with it. He backs away this time.

"I love you," he says.

"I love you,"

I was nervous about going home to mom's house. I knew she was upset with me. But at the end of the week, I pack my things and head home. It's quiet when I step into the house.

"Mom, I'm home," I yell out.

"She's at work," Donna says, coming out of her room.

I nod. "Did you have a fun week?" I ask her as I head towards my room.

"It was eventful. What about you?" she asked.

"Same." I tell her.

"I heard you had court," She says.

"Yeah, they locked him up for life,"

"Good, he deserves it," She says.

"Are you really dating, Adam?" she asked.

So mom's been talking about me "Mom tell you about that."

"I overheard her and dad talking,"

"We're a couple," I tell her.

"A couple like boyfriend/girlfriend thing." She asked.

"I don't know, we didn't really put a label on it," I tell her.

"You're mom's not too happy about it," She says.

"Yeah, I know."

"Are you sure the baby belongs to the rapist?" She asked.

"Yes, Adam and I used protection." I tell her.

"Protection doesn't always work." She says.

Whatever, "the time adds up to when Raymond Baker was there. Adam wasn't even at the house when I got pregnant. " I tell her.

"Ok, I would have them do a DNA just to be sure, though. Wouldn't you want it to be Adam's, though?"

"Of course," I say. "I should unpack." I tell her, leaving her in the hallway.

I heard when Mom got home that I don't rush to go see her. But she comes by my room.

"Hey," She says.

"Hey,"

"Can I come in?" She asked.

"Sure."

"I just wanted to talk about this whole Adam thing," She says

"I thought you might," I said, sitting at the edge of my bed. "I know you're not happy about it,"

"He's your step brother Sabine,"

"I love him," I tell her. "You don't have anything to worry about, though I probably never have sex ever again thanks to what happened," I tell her.

"Sabine," She says

Tears roll down my cheeks. "I want to be alone now, please," I tell her.
