The sun was warm but not overbearing. We pulled into the parking lot of Kidspace Children's Museum. The girls were already bouncing in their car seats, clutching their plushies like they were tickets to a magical world in their books I've been reading them.
I love how excited they are for everything. Honestly I wanna take them all over the world one day.
As soon as we walked through the doors, a few people turned. A group of teens whispered and pointed quietly.
"That's Billie Eilish."
I kept my head low, holding Valentina's hand, Edith beside me with Lovely on her hip. I wasn't here for any of that. I was here to be a mom today. A regular ass mom who just wanted to see her kids smear paint on paper and be happy at every little thing.
Can I be normal?
We got them little aprons for the painting corner. They dipped their hands into bowls of kid safe paint and smeared swirls of chaos across big white sheets. Yellow handprints, red smudges, one giant blue streak that somehow got on my shirt.
"Lovely, this was supposed to be the paper," I said, laughing.
"Oopsie," she giggled, proudly pointing at her art on my shirt like it was a masterpiece. Honestly, it kinda was.
Hey, this kinda reminds me of my old projects.
After painting, we visited the outdoor garden maze, let them run through the splash pad in their swimsuits, and sat down for lunch in the shaded family picnic area. Vegan wraps, fruit, oat milk and a lot of damn snacks.. ew they have fucking Cheeto fingers..
Later, we built foam towers and played with giant magnetic tiles. A volunteer offered to take a family picture in front of the butterfly wall. I crouched between Edith and the girls, Valentina tossing petals in the air like she was at Coachella. I swear she had fun on stage with me.
I'm pretty sure we will be on their wall but I payed $5000 for the picture and then put it in my bag...
My security doubled checked to make sure they didn't take others... honestly people are weird.
No, posting my kids without my permission. Hell, I don't even want them in the spotlight but they have to in order to go somewhere.
🐥
The ride back was quiet.
Within five minutes of pulling out in the Sprinter van, both girls were out cold in their car seats.
"Someone had fun," I said lowly, watching them in the mirror.
"No, because they never fall asleep that fast," Edith giggled, her hand slipping into mine. She leaned over and kissed my lips.
"I'm glad we got out," I whispered, biting my lip as I looked her over. Her skin glowing.
"Yeah," she murmured, giving me that look that made me blush like hell. "Me too."
She's so fucking gorgeous I can scream.
"Mmm... what should we do tomorrow?" I asked.
I grabbed my phone scrolling.
"There's the LA Zoo, Travel Town Train Museum, Aquarium of the Pacific, or that cute storybook themed park in Griffith Park. What do you think?"
She smiled. "All of them."
"Okay, I said."
I opened the notes app and planned out everything..
