This was it.

Poor Awsten and Michael. It started off sweet, meeting at the coffee shop, Michael blinded by the bright mint hair, and dazzling smile.

Then it turned sour. Bitter, even. Awsten had caused some damage. There was that time Michael was in hospital and Awsten wanted to charge his phone, so he unplugged a machine. And that time in the cosy coffee shop where Awsten mildly tampered with Michael's drink after their argument over who had better hair.

I did have one drafted chapter of him throwing a toaster in the bath but I thought that was too far.

It was safe to say that Michael and Awsten- or rather, my Michael and Awsten, were enemies intertwined at the soul. Complex, but adoring, but wanted to choke each other. No one knew what direction this would go in.

Except me.

This was my '... and suddenly they," chapter. Where the petty fights, and the longing eyes, and an occasional pinky finger touch ended in one huge bang. Enemies to lovers. Everybody ate that one up.

I was kicking my feet as I reminded myself of the last cliffhanger. Roller skating. Michael and Calum had switched things up and celebrated their new songs in a unique fashion, when Michael took a fall. Only, an entire wheel had fallen off his roller skate, and as he peeled his face up from the floor he had spot that bright-mint-haired-boy across the room.

Grabbing a handful of popcorn, I shoved it in my mouth and grinned to myself.

Chapter 56

Was it him? Michael wondered, a scowl following the thought. Everytime he was growing fond of Awsten again, something foul happened... again. It was feeling less coincidental.

"Dude, get your ass off the floor,"

"Help me up,"

Calum dragged him to his feet, the pair of them skating to the side, where Michael frustratedly ripped off his skates, and stormed off the rink. Less than a minute later, his path to leave was blocked.

"Awsten," he grumbled, sarcastically smiling, "A pleasure,"

"Thought we were on good terms?"

"Did you do this?"

"Do what?" Awsten smiled sweetly, "Make you fall? I would do no such thing,"

Michael let out an exasperated groan and shoved past, harshly knocking Awsten's shoulder. To his dismay, this did not deter the guy, who blocked his path again.

There was a time he adored Awsten. The pair had done each other's hair and makeup, they'd done duets at karaoke- he had even introduced him to the band. Nostalgia often hit Michael, especially as he didn't know what went wrong. Awsten just became weird about things. Angry that Michael had a life, he thought. They'd talked it out but everytime something went wrong, he couldn't help but place the blame on this man.

Dumping the skates by reception, Michael physically pushed Awsten out of the way and rushed out the entrance, searching for his keys in his pocket. Unfortunately, they were in Calum's.

"Someone's upset they fell over,"

"Oh give me a break, Awsten,"

"What's that supposed to mean?"

He jogged over to the car where Michael stood, then grabbed his hand, pulling them both behind a bush. It was a little tight in order to be hidden. So tight they could hear each other breathing, and Michael could see the moon reflecting in Awsten's eyes. He scalded himself for that.

"Look man. Things keep going on in my life and you're always there,"

"So?"

"So it's you,"

"Maybe,"

"I don't get it,"

"I don't get why you're with the band all the time and not me," Awsten hissed, "I've been fighting for your goddam attention,"

"So you took a wheel off my skate?"

"You treat me like I'm invisible,"

"You treat me like a human voodoo doll,"

"I want you to see me, Michael,"

"I see you... but,"

That was all Awsten wanted to hear. That Michael saw him. Without hesitation, he grabbed Michael's face, and suddenly... they kissed.

Oh it was so perfect. I grabbed another handful of popcorn and looked back, frowning. I accidentally deleted a sentence. As I ate, I retyped it and giggled, only to see the strangest thing occur. My sentence deleted itself, letter by letter, as if someone was typing for me.

Then, a new one formed.

Without hesitation, he grabbed Michael's face, and suddenly... I'm not kissing that son of a bitch.

In horror, I stared at my phone, then refreshed the app and pinched myself. Not asleep.

Who is this? I typed.

Michael... who is this?

Doesn't matter... just kiss him.

Surely this wasn't possible. My own character was... defying me? Ruining my moment?

No. I draw the line.

Well... what can you do. Hug?

We could do a gaming stream.

You're in a bush. And streams aren't very climactic.

They are if you're like Michael and supposedly forget a password.

Awsten ?!?

Hiiiiiiiii - Awsten

I'm not kissing him- Michael

You're boring- Awsten

Why would I wanna kiss a rude bi
Bit
B

Y A Y !
oops that was me Awsten.

Yeah. We know. Zip it. Both of you.

Patiently, I waited for any more sign of life. Or, fiction. Nothing.
So, with a sigh of relief, and concern I was going crazy, I swiftly finished the chapter.

Without hesitation, he grabbed Michael's face, and suddenly... they kissed.
