CODIE: Revenant Protocol

THE WARNING

One month since she and Baron came back after they graduated as Medical students and taken a license examination this is the first time they see her this serious.

"Baka dahil nakita niyang mas mataas score ni Kaelen sakanya." Bulong ni Runa kay Baron pero umiling ito dahil kilala niya ang bestfriend niya.

Iniisip parin nito ang baliw.

Codie is standing at Lane 4, wearing her black gloves that hold her pistol tightly. She tried to focus but her mind kept coming back to her morning interaction with that crazy scientist.

"Your sister Connie needs your blood."

"Who are you?." the Scientists successfully caught her attention specially after it mentioned the name Connie.

"Come with me at Zone 9–" Baron pull her away to stop her from hearing more dahil malaki ang tiyansang mauto nito ang kaibigan niya lalo na't ilang taon na nitong hindi ma contact ang kakambal.

Codie remembered it that made her nose clunked before putting her finger on the trigger.

"Again!" Marco Homad shouted after seeing her 10.5 score. The leaderboard updated in real-time on the wall-sized screen. He didn't really need to shout. Codie adjusted her grip on the pistol, steadying her breath as the facility lights flickered.

"Sir! Let's take a break po muna, it is already 3 PM," one of the players shouted. "I bet Codie is already dizzy, kaya pababa na score niya." Codie acted like she didn't hear anything and just gave them a small nod, her eyes still locked on the glowing target.

"Okay, a 30-minute break," Marco finally called out while rubbing his neck as he walked toward the locker room.

Codie lowered her gun slowly but her expression was still unreadable.

She became so sensitive when it came to hearing her sister. That's why after her duty earlier she already lost her cool. Another reason is the Olympic Pistol Shooting 2050 was only 72 hours away, and Kaelen Vireon's perfect score had greeted them like a slap to the face the moment they entered the training hall.

She could practically hear him smirking from wherever he was, knowing that he finally won against her.

She removed all her gear and started to walk to the locker room.

On her way she was greeted with the shout of the athletes from different sports. She met Cleo Austin, The new chief resident doctor at MBH (Manila Biotech Hospital) , one of the fencing players from their university. He greeted her with a smile while she just gave him a small nod before he started walking with her.

"You look distracted today." He tried to give her his chocolate bar but she denied it saying she wanted to drink water instead of eating something.

"What do you know? Aren't you busy?" Nilingon niya sandali si Cleo bago ito tinaasan ng kilay.

Cleo went missing for 1 year after the news from Zone 9 but he came back looking so different, not his looks but the attitude. He became more friendly but his smile was so forced. Hindi alam ni Codie kung siya lang ang nakapansin noon o pati ang iba.

"We are, our coaches are changing our training routine. It is exhausting as if they are training us for real life combat."

"Then you are lucky you'll be fine when the Zombie comes knocking." She said with still a straight face before entering at their locker, Cleo followed. Parehas lang ang locker room nila dahil isang university lang naman ang pinag lalaban nila.

The chilled air and scent of metal greeted them as she stepped inside...Her team was already there. They greeted her with polite nods while Runa walked up and handed her a bottle of water, smiling.
