Alyona

She stirred a little in her sleep, trying to find his fast fading presence as the sun crept up the sky.

She felt his hand gently caress her cheek-- a gesture so akin to feathers, it did little to assure her it wasn't a dream... That he wasn't a dream.

"Sleep, my love," he whispered, gently.

She slept, assured of his existence.

Aiden

He looked at her sleeping form-- so innocent, so fragile-- he was tempted to stay.

But he didn't.

He told himself it was for the best; he tried to convince himself of it as he began placing the letter beside the bed...

...Then he didn't-- presuming she would hurt less if she thought she meant little to him on the long run.

He left the room with the letter.

It shattered his heart...

...Hers would never be mended.

A/N: So here you are... The last chapter...

Before those of you who can actually start sharpening your knives to throw at me, I told you it was going to be short.

If it was painful for you, believe me, it was ten thousand times worse for me...

And also, those of you who followed it through.. Thank you. Thank you very much.. ^-^

Also, remember how I was confused about the dedication?... Yeah well.. I didn't dedicate it to any of the two people I was planning on... Hehe...
