High tides swept the shore of the beach, a quarter mile from where you and Ymir were walking on the poorly paved, broken roads of Paradis. A blunt hung between her middle and pointer finger, and smoke billowed out of her lips.

The party, hosted by her friend Eren, as you had learned, was at the end of your road, a mile walk from where the summer house was. This information was given to you in a long-winded 15-minute conversation, where Ymir insisted on telling you every detail of the party so you could be positive you wanted to go. Not only did it include a debrief of her friend groups' lore, but also a personal, and probably biased, review of each of their character.

"Eren is the fucking worst," Ymir had said, standing in front of you on the back porch, as you leaned back into the woven chair and watched the sunset. Your hair brushed out of your eyes, and the jean shorts you had changed into were the only thing between you and the hot weaving of the chair.

You frowned. "But he's dating Mikasa, and you said she's a gem?"

"Wrong, it's like you aren't even listening, Y/N." Ymir groaned. "They were dating, a few months ago they broke up, and now things are weird between them but they keep pretending it's normal, total pain in the ass."

"Okay, understood, captain." You fake-saluted her.

Ymir rolled her eyes. "Right, so Eren's trouble, just steer clear of him if you can help it, he might try and sleep with you, I promise no orgasm is worth the hassle it'll bring."

You nodded. No sleeping with Eren, got it. Couldn't be that hard, right?

"Oh," Ymir said, remembering something. She pointed at you. "His best friend Armin is almost worse, he and his ex Annie are going to be there tonight, and she does not play about him."

"Does every guy in your friend group have a complicated relationship with their ex? Or are those two just dicks?" You asked.

Ymir paused and gave a contemplative look. "They aren't all that complicated. He broke up with her last year, and she's weird about it. Besides that, she's cool, but she hates when he gets with people, makes a huge deal of it." Ymir paced on the porch. "Last semester, he slept with some girl, Annie showed up at his door while the girl was still there, and banged on it until he let her in; it was a total disaster."

"Sounds like it," You remarked. You couldn't blame Annie entirely; you'd also been stricken by that kind of all-consuming love before, and the thought of your ex sleeping with someone else used to make you want to vomit. "What else? Hit me with it."

Ymir made a humming noise and ran a hand through her shaggy hair. She had on an oversized shirt and long jean shorts, her typical summer apparel. "Well, just one more thing."

You tilted your head, she looked... Nervous. As if she had something to hide, which was unlike her, seeing as the two of you had told each other everything since before you could remember.

"You remember that girl I was telling you about a few months ago?" Ymir asked, giving you a look.

You nodded slowly. "Cristoria? Astoria? One of those, right?"

"Historia," Ymir corrected, smiling. "But yeah, her. We've been sort of seeing each other recently, nothing serious, but I really like her and--"

"Oh my God, that's fucking amazing," You squealed, standing up and wrapping your arms around her, jumping up and down and shaking her. "I've been waiting for you to get a girlfriend; it's so hard dealing with you all alone."

"Oh fuck off," Ymir laughed, pushing you away gently. "I have talked about you a lot, so she'll probably act like she already knows you; she does it with everyone, just go with it."
