Tempting but Fragile Pt. 5

Start from the beginning

"We can...maybe take things slow. If it's what you want- or we can just talk about all of this some other time." Leah shook her head. "I'd rather do that."

"Okay..." I nodded at her.

Leah's POV

"Alright, come on let's get you inside." I took my seatbelt off right when I turned the car off. I looked over to Sophia who was leaning against the car door.

"We're home?" She slowly sat up.

"Yeah." I got out of the car and walked to the other side. I carefully opened her door and helped her undo her seatbelt. "Careful." She slowly got out of the car.

"I'm never drinking ever again..." She said.

I smiled and put my arm out. "Here, hold onto my arm." I offered, she gladly held onto it as we walked towards the front door. I could see a light on inside, Eve must've been home. "I think Eve is home." I said.

Sophia looked up and stared at the light. "Oh yeah, well thank you for everything. I really had a fun time Leah." She turned to me and smiled.

"Of course, I enjoyed your company. A lot." I said.

"Yeah, I-" As soon as Sophia was about to speak, the door opened. I saw Eve standing there. "Oh...hey Eve." Sophia smiled at her. "Um...I'll see you soon then." She turned to me.

"Yeah, I'll call you." I said.

Sophia walked into the house and then stopped to look at Eve. Eve was too busy staring into my soul. "Eve? You coming?" Sophia asked.

"I'll be there, go into the kitchen. I brought you some food. I wanna ask leah something about tomorrow's game." Eve turned her head to look at Sophia.

"Okay..." Sophia said, I saw her walking off until I shifted my attention to Eve again.

"What did you want to ask?" I looked at Eve, she moved closer to me.

"What are you doing?" Eve asked me, her arms were crossed across her chest.

"I brought her home..." I said.

"I can see that Leah, my question is what are you doing? What is your goal?" She asked.

"My goal?" I narrowed my eyes, I was so lost. "I'm sorry, I think i'm a little lost here-"

"With Sophia. What is your plan?" She asked, I got it now. "I know she may be naive, oblivious and blind sometimes...but that's why she has me. I know you're not just trying to be her friend, I'm not stupid Leah."

"Listen, I get it. You're her friend, you're trying to have her back and look after her but you don't know-" I couldn't even get to the end of my sentence.

"I know, trust me. I know." She took a deep breath in and turned to make sure Sophia wasn't around. "I'm not stupid. I've heard things Leah, you're not gonna get to her."

"What are you talking about? What things have you heard?" I stepped forward.

"I've heard things. Word gets around." She tilted her head slightly.

What the fuck.

"You should leave, it's late." Eve stepped back and slammed the door in my face.

I took a deep breath in as I clenched my jaw, I turned around and started walking back to my car. What the fuck had just happened? Eve? Out of all people I'd expect to get in my way, I was not expecting Eve to be the one.

That wasn't gonna stop me though.

She was different.

Different than the rest.

I could tell.

Sophia's POV

"This is so good..." I glanced up at Eve as she walked into the kitchen. She smiled and pulled a chair back, she took a seat.

"You're hungry." She said.

"All I did was drink." I took a quick sip of the soda. "I don't usually like tomatoes on my burgers but...it's actually really good." I wiped my mouth with a napkin.

"I'm glad you like it, Cassie is actually the one that picked it out for you." Eve said to me.

"Mmm..." I took another small bite out of the burger.

"Cassie said she missed you, she really wanted you to go with us. She's not leaving until Monday-"

"I think I like her." I blurted out, it just flew from my mouth.

Eve paused and stared at me. "You...You like Cassie?" She narrowed her eyes.

"No...I like Leah."
