Then my foot caught on something. I stumbled. Again. And in no time I was on my way to meet the cold floor. But thankfully this time, Thomas caught me by the waist, his strong arms holding me upright. My hand gripped his shoulder without thinking.
"Fuck...This is the second time today" I muttered, breathless.
"You always were a little clumsy," he smirked, eyes dropping to my mouth before flicking back up.
My stomach tightened. Not fear. Something else. I got up totally on my own now, and we continued on walking. After a while he asked me "So... you and Riddle huh?".
I blinked, still pressed lightly against him. "What about us?"
"Are you two..." he paused, then tilted his head, smirking, "...fucking?"
My jaw dropped slightly. "What—why would you even say that?"
He didn't answer. Just looked at me. That same look he used to give when he knew something I didn't want to admit. His eyes said more than his lips ever could've in this situation.
I stepped back slightly. "I'm not..... We're not. ...God...I would never..."
"You sure?" he asked, voice low, teasing but edged in something else.
"Yes. Uhh..Omg!!... Thomas come on." I sighed at his surprising conclusion.
I barely got the words out before he gently pushed me back, my back hit the cool stone wall, and his body stood close, just inches between us. The air felt thick.
"So you don't mind this do you?"
Why is his voice alone seducing me, why is it so damn sexy??
"uhh...I.." no real words came out, I was to stunned at his action to speek.
"Are you nervous Agnes?" he asked.
"No." I spelled out, I didn't even think before I did.
"Then why," he leaned in closer, lips nearly touching mine, "Is your heart beating so fast?" he said as his hand made its way up my neck and feelt my pulse.
Then after a short moment of silence, he kissed me. And I let him. Why!? Why did I?!
It was soft at first, so familiar. His hands are now on my waist, and his lips moving against mine, like muscle memory. It was all coming back. The way he used to hold me like I was something breakable. The way I melted a little under his touch.
But my head... my heart... they weren't syncing.
Because all I could think of was Mattheo. His face when I walked away earlier. The way he looked at me when he thought I wouldn't notice. How his words always made my chest tighten. And that strange feeling I got when we were close, like standing on the edge of a cliff I couldn't decide whether to jump from or not.
So why was I kissing Thomas? To feel something familiar? To feel wanted? Or just to forget? Before I could answer that, footsteps echoed down the hall. Loud and so fast. We pulled apart instantly, my breath catching as a tall, dark figure appeared from the shadows, robes sweeping behind him like smoke.
"Professor Snape," Thomas muttered under his breath.
Shit. There he was, in full black robes, his wand glowing at the tip and his expression already murderous. Out of everyone who could see us right now did it have to be him? Really, come on!! Why is the universe so against me all the time.
"Out after curfew. Public corridors. Close contact. Inappropriate behavior," he said in that slow, terrifying tone. "I expect better from Slytherins."
