"come onnn just this once, it's the weekend and you out of school." amara said and i glanced away from my computer screen.

"you want me to go somewhere where i'm going to stick out worse than a sore thumb." i said and she shook her head.

"no you won't, you're gonna be with me and my boyfriend."

"the boyfriend that doesn't like me, right?" i asked and she smacked her lips.

"yes he does! he's just-"

"homophobic..." i mumbled looking back at my computer.

"come on! you know i'm not gonna let him mess with you, plus this a chance to branch out and meet more people." she said and i rolled my eyes.

"yet he's going to be making smart ass remarks every chance he gets. i don't want to be around that amara." i said and she sighed dramatically.

"okay what if we only around him a few minutes then we walk off and find my other friends." she said and i hummed.

"what time?"

she jumped up off my bed all happy and excited.

"8, tonight. i'll pick you up arounddd 7:45." she said and i nodded my head.

"okay.." i said then felt her grab my computer and close it.

"in the meantimeeee you needa take a break and breathe from all the school work you're drowning yourself in casey." she said and i shook my head.

"how else imma pass?"

"roman you have all a's, take extra classes, and top 5 in your graduation class." she said.

"and that comes from studying the way i do." i said grabbing my computer back and opened it back up.

"mmm, whatever. be ready when i get here."

"hmm hold your finger out." i glanced her way after looking at myself in the car mirror.

"oh hell no youre trying set me up." i said and she looked at me lost.

"nigga it's lipgloss." she said and i shook my head.

"one stop calling me that. two i'm finna be around yo boyfriend and his friends. you know they're going to say something."

"boy fuck allem, i'll smack the shit out of every one of them niggas and anybody else who say sumn. here."

i sighed knowing she wasn't lying, it's been a few times she's went off on somebody for being homophobic towards me.

plenty of times i had to pull her away before she got physical with them.

i let her put some lipgloss onto my finger, only a little, then i smudged the little bit on my lips.
