( Flash Back))

After Diana's death, Leo couldn't be himself.

Everything that happened felt like it was his fault.

Diana wouldn't have died if not for him.

How would he push through life without her?

Moments shared with Diana flooded his mind.

No one to call him Doctor Leo like his wife used to.

No one to smile at him the way Diana always did.

He missed her spunky personality, her troublemaking, and their little fights.

But what hurt him the most was that he had promised to protect her. He had failed to fulfil that promise.

Opening his locker, he retrieved a poisonous syringe, injecting it into his arm.

"I hope you're happy, Diana, to welcome me home," was all he whispered before giving up the ghost.

Mrs. Bethel, Diana's mom, woke up in the morning beside her daughter's body.

She wouldn't allow the nurses to take her daughter's body away the night before; that was why she stayed.

Tears streamed down her cheeks as she gazed at Diana's lifeless form.

She just couldn't believe her precious daughter was gone.

"Diana, are you really going to leave Mom alone?" she mumbled tearfully.

"Where was Leo? Did he run away after being held responsible for my daughter's death?" she thought indignantly and sprang to her feet.

Storming out of the room, she headed toward Leo's office. When she reached it, she tried opening the door, but it was locked from the inside.

Oh no!

He's trying to hide, isn't he?

"Leo, open this door immediately, or else I'm going to break it down!" she yelled, drawing the attention of some nurses and patients.

After some time with no response from Leo, she turned to one of the security guards.

"Break down the door," she commanded, her fury palpable.

The Dav-wools family had always been known for their arrogance and fear; no one dared to cross their path.

The security rushed to break the door down, fearing for their own lives.

After several minutes, the door was finally broken open, revealing a sight Mrs. Bethel never expected-Leo lay sprawled on the floor.

Nurses rushed in, checking his pulse. "He isn't breathing!" one of them exclaimed, shocked.

And that was how the news spread, eventually reaching Nessa and her mom.

((Two Days Later))

Leo and Diana were buried.

Nessa remained at her parents' mansion and couldn't attend classes due to her bandaged head.

As for Mrs. Bethel, she still hadn't gotten over the loss of her precious daughter.

**<<<THE WINTHROP>>>**

Gina walked into her mother's room, looking incredibly worried.

"Mom, your illness is getting worse each day. Don't you think Bryan should know about this?" she asked fearfully.

"Even... even if he knows about this, he still wouldn't be able to do anything," her mother stuttered.

Two days ago, Bryan's mom, Mrs. Matilda and Gina received a phone call from the eldest son of the Dav-wool family-or whatever they called themselves-begging her to come see him.

Gina decided to go with her mom after everything she had told her about the family. Who knew if they were up to no good again?

To cut a long story short, he actually called her to explain what had been happening to his family.

He spoke about a covenant from the past, something about a blood oath, and how his sister and brother-in-law died because of it. He claimed that the cycle of death would not end until Bryan married his daughter.

Gina thought he was joking, but then her mother fell ill, and the doctor said nothing was physically wrong with her.

Geez, she really didn't want her mom to die.

Almost immediately, Bryan came in, sweating profusely. He had just returned from an hour of jogging.

"What's wrong with Mom?" he asked, holding a bottle of water in his hand.

"Mom is sick, as you can see," Gina mumbled.

Bryan stared at her in disbelief and huffed. "Why didn't you let me know? Why didn't you take her to the hospital?"

"I did! But the doctor said nothing is wrong with her," she snapped as she walked up to him.

"Bryan, Mom is suffering from a curse, and only you can save her," she added, biting her lip.

"A curse? How do you mean, Gina?"

After listening to Gina and his mom's explanation, Bryan chuckled awkwardly.

"This sounds like a joke to me," he said truthfully.

A lot of questions raced through his mind. How could his father use such childish games to get him engaged?

How could he-Bryan Winthrop, one of the richest billionaires, the cutest guy on earth, a mafia boss, and every lady's dream-get married to a child who was still in school

Wasn't this child abuse?

And what about Ariel? Was this where their love story ended?

He was so confused! Did such things as oaths really exist?

"Bryan, you have to get married to her for Mom's sake. Please, I'm still too young to go through life without her," Gina pleaded, already in tears.

Bryan scowled and dashed out of the room, heading to the bar stand.

As soon as he reached it, he poured himself a strong drink.

How could his father do this to him?

What was he even thinking?

He couldn't get married, especially not to a child.

But what about him and Gina?

Was he really going to let her mother die, just like his father did?

What would he tell Ariel?

He pulled out his phone from his pocket and dialled Tiger's number-his men.

Tiger answered immediately upon seeing that the caller was his boss.

Bryan was the kind of person one didn't keep waiting; otherwise, it would be the end for that person.

"Yes, boss," he said in his deep voice.

Bryan breathed sharply.

"Send a letter to the Wools family. Tell them I'm coming to marry their daughter."
