Hii. Long time no see!

Im so sorry for not updating in so long, I have just been really busy with school as I have exams coming up and just life in general. I have also been having sever writers block which didn't help 😅.

But I'm back now!

I hope to post at least every week and give you guys weekly dosage of lava and Kai angst 😁.

I am also going to start including TWs because I just realised that parts of my stories are a bit, well, gruesome I guess, so I do apologise for not including that sooner.

I also might start going into people's first person povs a bit more but I'll see how it goes.

I know you have all been waiting so I am sorry, but I'm ready to get back into it. 😁

They made it back to the monastery just as the sun started to come up. Cole was still holding Kai in his arms, not ready to let go. Kai didn't mind. He was too exhausted to care. He knew he shouldn't have left. Shouldn't of taken the masked figure on by himself. But if he didn't, he felt like everyone else would suffer and get hurt, and he couldn't allow that.

Cole carried Kai to his room and lay him on the bed, making sure not to hurt him anymore in the process.

"I can lie down by myself you know." Kai said with a tired smirk.

"Shut up." Cole replied sharply, not angry, just letting Kai know that he wasn't going to win.

Cole sat down in the chair next to Kai and just looked down, staring at his fingers. Kai's expression changed from smirking, to serious, guilt filling up inside him. He knew what he had done. He knew that he had scared Cole to death. But he didn't have a choice.

"I'm sorry..." Kai murmured, looking down at his fingers too, not wanting to make eye contact. Cole said nothing. He just sat down in the chair next to the bed, staring at his palms in his lap.

The pair of them didn't say anything for a little while. They just sat in silence, trying to come to terms with what happened and what could of happened.

"Why did you do it Kai?" Cole whispered, finally breaking the silence. He didn't look up from his lap, he didn't need to.

Kai looked up at him, and then saw it. Saw the tiredness in his eyes. Saw the fear of loosing the person he loved, once again. It made Kai's heart break. It was then that he finally realised, that his actions didn't just affect him, that it didn't only hurt him, that it affected everyone.

"I- I don't know." Kai whispered back, his voice breaking. Cole changed his gaze to Kai, watching as he fiddled with his fingers and stared at the ceiling as if it were going to give him answers. He knew what this meant. He knew what Kai was thinking about when he did this. It meant that he didn't actually know why he did what he did, he just... did.

"I- I think I just- didn't want to be responsible for anyone else's pain or me being the reason that the others got hurt. I always protected Nya when we were younger, making sure that she never got hurt, even if that meant I was the one to suffer. I always made sure that she never saw my bad side and that she only saw the 'happy, cheerful, perfect Kai'. I was all she had and I think... I think after all those years I just don't know how to be any different."

Cole just stared at Kai, watching his every move. He could see how Kai tugged and pulled at his fingers and kept looking at the ceiling, reliving memories of the past. It made his heart break. He never wanted to do the things he did, he only did it because that's all he knows how to do. Its- who he is.

He got up and pulled Kai into a tight hug, startling him a bit as he wasn't expecting it. Kai was frozen for a second but quickly melted into the hug a couple tears sliding down his face.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you." Kai apologies, his voice muffled into Cole's shoulder.

"I know baby, I know. It's not your fault." Cole replies, rubbing smoothing circles on Kai's back in an attempt to soothe him.

They eventually broke apart and Cole could see the few tears on Kai's face. He cupped his cheek and wiped them away with his thumb, stroking his face gently. Kai leaned into the hold and shut his eyes in comfort.

"Thank you for protecting us. I know that you can't help it, but please, let me help you. I can't bear to watch you get hurt like that in front of me again. I love you too much Kai," Cole whispered as he continued to stroke Kai's cheek.

"Ok, I'll try," He replied as he gave a weak smile.

"Then that's all I ask." Cole smiled as he leaned in and kissed him. Nothing big or special, just something to let him know that he loves him and he will always be there for him, no matter the circumstances.

Okkk there we go we are back into it!!

Honestly I'm really glad and I have a lot of other story ideas (not going to be related to this) for the future.

But for now, good morning/ good afternoon and goodnight where ever you are. Remember to eat, sleep, drink, take your meds and remember that you are beautiful. <3
