Chapter 7: Closer

"Why?"

"What do you mean why? Ma'am, you debated with me, you had the same interests as me -not all women like animals in general - you're polite, you're kind..." 

"Ahhh that's a lot of praises, Park Jimin"

"Chim. I told you to call me Chim."

"Ahhh mianhae. Ok Chim, kamsahamnida for noticing those traits of mine. Well...you are one in a million yourself."

he just smiled

"You only like strawberry? Try the vanilla"
Jimin spoonfed her with his own spoon

"Ok...uhmmm its good!
You try the strawberry too...here!"

Jeongyeon also spoonfed Jimin with her own spoon

"Ohhh its good too" he said but Jeongyeon realized that both just spoonfed each other and was a bit surprise of the actions they've made

"Eat some more!" he said and she scooped both vanilla and strawberry and ate it.

("Shit. His saliva was in his spoon right? And I ate on his spoon? And he ate on my spoon too right? Am I not dreaming?") she said in her mind

"Uhm...the stars are so beautiful. They appear closer here. How often do you come here?"
Jeongyeon asked

"If I need fresh air...or if I get lonely...I go here"

"I see... Chim? Can I ask you something?"

"That depends"

"Oh okay. I just want to know...
where are your parents?"

There was a few moments of silence before Jimin finally spoke...

"I've been looking for them since I was 5."

Jeongyeon stopped eating ice cream and looked at him with concern

"My 5th birthday was the happiest day of my life...and just a few months of being five years old everyday became a sad day. They were imprisoned. I don't know the reason why. And then I never saw them again. I've looked in all correctional facilities when I grew older but I don't know - maybe this country hid them from me. I don't have siblings too. Just an uncle and a cousin -Jungkook."

"I'm - I'm sorry for asking."

"It's okay..."

then suddenly...there was a power shortage

"Oh my gosh!"
Jeongyeon got scared that she absent-mindedly hugged Jimin's arm

all lights in the island were off and everything went dark except for the moon and stars up above

"Aaahhh!!"
Jimin annoyingly reacted

"Wait I'll just gonna call someone"
he continued

"No don't leave me!"
Jeongyeon said in fear and Jimin laughed at her, still hugging his arm

"Hello Miss Hwang yes please call and update them...thank you"

"How often does this island get power outages?"

"Just very seldom. Let's get back inside.
There might be mosquitoes here."

"Ok..ok"
Jimin used the light on his phone to guide their steps

"So...you're afraid of the dark huh?"

"A little. Especially in a foreign place."

"Ah this is your home already.
I guess we have to use the stairs"

"Ok we're here. Haaaa!!!"
Jimin tried to scare her and she screamed and almost cried

"Aaahhh!!! Stop! Why did you do that!"

"Hahahaha! Scaredy cat!"

"Stop it! My heart is still in shock"

But when Jimin saw that her expression didn't changed, he was the one who got scared.

"Hey! Mianhae! It was just to lighten you up."

Jeongyeon was still frowning

"You know that I was scared and you still purposely scared me! What's wrong with you?!" she said like a baby

She's about to storm out and go to her room when suddenly Jimin pulled her arm and embraced her

"Mianhae" he softly whispered to her ear
