Eunjang High didn't feel like a school. I felt like a warning.

Flickering hallway, lights. Chipped paint on the stair railings. The kind of silence that only lasted between fights.

Aria stepped through the main doors.

The building swallowed her whole.

Her footsteps echoed against the tile. She moved without hesitation, shoulders squared, eyes fixed ahead.

She knew the rumors had already started—probably before she even arrived.

And she didn't care.

She was here to keep her head down.

No more fighting. No more expulsion. No more trouble.

Just get through highschool.

_____

She reached the stairwell and climbed to the second floor. As she reached the top, she froze.

A group of boys lined up against the wall, like they were waiting for punishment—glasses crooked, sleeves rumpled, shoes scuffed.

Across from them, another group laughed as they kicked a soccer ball—at them, not near them.

The ball slammed into one of the boy's back. He flinched but didn't complain.

The laughter got louder.

One of the boys with the ball noticed her watching.

He swallowed hard and elbowed his friend. "Hey, let her through."

They all looked at her and stepped aside.

Aria didn't say a word.

She didn't need to.

She just kept walking.

______

Class 2-3.

The door was slightly open. Voices echoed through it, sharp and loud.

She slid the door the rest of the way open—

—and stopped.

There was a crowd.

Students were circled around the center of the room, yelling, hyped, jostling eachother like it was a show.

Somehow, Aria slipped through the mess and manged to see what was happening.

A guy was beating the hell out of a nerdy-looking boy.

The hits came fast and hard.

A shoulder slam. A blow to the cheek. A punch to the ribs.

The boy stumbled, tried to duck—caught another punch to his back instead.

Students laughed, some cheered, some people even recorded it.

The attacker shoved the boy's arms away and dove his fists into his gut like he was trying to dig a hole through him.

Aria didn't move.

She didn't speak.

But something in her gut twisted violently.

She was a transfer. She told herself she wouldn't get involved.

But the sight didn't sit right.

"Geez, your guard's sturdy, huh?" the guy taunted.

He yanked the boys wrist, twisted it sharply, then slammed him back against a wall.
