The brisk, chilly breeze weaves through the lush green forest, sending an exhilarating shiver down my spine. As I stand among the towering trees, their leaves rustling gently overhead, I let my fingers glide through my long, wavy hair, which flows gracefully down to my waist. The sensation is both soothing and invigorating. I take a moment to center myself, inhaling deeply the crisp, earthy scent of pine and damp soil.
Inhale... the coolness fills my lungs, refreshing and alive.
Exhale... slowly releasing the tension from my body, I feel an overwhelming sense of peace wash over me as I connect with the beauty of my surroundings.
The rhythmic thump of my heartbeat reverberates through my mind, perfectly synchronized with the gentle whispers of nature, my beloved Eywa. In this serene moment, I find immense joy. My thoughts are never as tranquil as they are when I lie here in the lush grass, liberated from the weight of responsibilities and the expectations that come from my mother, aunt, or future mate. In this sanctuary, I am completely alone but wholly content with myself. Oh, how I long for the possibility of living here forever, enveloped in solitude and peace.
Le'Le, my loyal companion, curls up beside my head, her gentle purring sending vibrations through the earth beneath me, acting as a comforting shield against the chaos of the outside world. With a soft sigh, I open my eyes and awkwardly tilt my head to catch a better glimpse of her. But as I do, my heart sinks—a familiar feeling of unease washes over me. Why does she look at me like that?
"What is it, Le'Le? Hmm?" I ask, my voice barely a whisper amidst the stillness around us.
Twisting my torso, I carefully maneuvered myself upright, my hands tangled in the soft, damp grass beneath me. With focused intent, I listened for any signs of danger, my gaze fixed on Le'Le as she diligently scanned our surroundings for threats. A knot of unease twisted in my stomach; something felt distinctly wrong.
Le'Le's low growl rumbled through the air like distant thunder the moment a sharp crack echoed from behind me, the sound of a tree branch snapping under pressure. Adrenaline surged through my veins as I swiftly grabbed my knife, its familiar weight reassuring in my hand. I sprang to my feet, Le'Le standing resolutely at my side, her stance tense and poised. She lowered her head close to mine, her growl growing fiercer, a primal warning echoing in our unease.
My heart raced as I strained to pinpoint the source of the sound. The hushed laughter that drifted through the air sent a chill down my spine. I turned my head sharply from left to right, my senses heightened as I surveyed the dense foliage around us. I scanned every rustling branch and shifting bush, my instincts sharpened. I listened intently to the soft, whispering wind as it caressed the leaves and stirred the broken branches, acutely aware that we were not alone and that danger lurked just out of sight.
I've spent countless hours wandering through the dense, whispering trees of this forest, always in solitude and never encountering anything out of the ordinary—until today. As I walk deeper among the towering pines, a sense of anticipation fills the air, and the rustling leaves seem to echo my thoughts. Gathering my courage, I take a breath that steadies my racing heart, and I call out, "I know you're out there. Step into the open now and show yourselves." The challenge lingers in the quiet, waiting for a response, as the flickering light filters through the canopy overhead.
Le'le steps closer, disapproving. "You've hurt men just for looking at me the wrong way. Stop judging." I whisper quickly, and her slight head twitch confirms she senses someone out there. "Leave now."
I hear myself say. Yes, it would be a smart decision to keep the murderous thanator as my protector, but if these are hunters or poachers, I can't risk her getting hurt. It only takes one arrow, and besides, I can handle myself. Through the bond, I can feel her hesitation, but I don't have the patience for her stubbornness.
