It had been a long few weeks. Between the newborn cries, sleepless nights, and the constant demands of parenting two young children, Freen and Becky’s relationship had been strained. It wasn’t that they didn’t love each other anymore, but the weight of everything—work, family, responsibilities—had begun to pull them apart, bit by bit.

Freen had been putting in long hours at the office. As the CEO of one of the biggest companies in the country, her work was demanding. She knew she had to be available for meetings, deals, and investor calls. But lately, the pressure had become unbearable. She felt like she was constantly running on empty.

On the other hand, Becky had been home, managing the house, caring for their daughters, and trying to keep things running smoothly. But as the days turned into weeks, she began to feel a growing resentment. She was tired—physically, emotionally, and mentally. And most of all, she felt alone.

It wasn’t like Freen wasn’t there. She was physically there, but her mind was always on something else—work, business, the next big deal. She had become distant, not because she didn’t care, but because the weight of her responsibilities had left her with little energy to devote to Becky and their family.

Tonight, the tension finally boiled over.

Becky sat at the kitchen table, nursing Luna, her tired eyes staring at the clock on the wall. Freen had promised to be home by 7 p.m., but it was nearly 9:30 now. Another late night at the office. Another promise broken.

Becky sighed, her frustration growing. She loved Freen, more than anything, but she couldn’t help feeling like she was carrying the weight of the world alone.

The sound of the front door opening broke the silence. Freen walked in, her tie loosened, a look of exhaustion etched on her face. She smiled when she saw Becky, but it was a smile that didn’t reach her eyes.

“Hey, baby,” Freen greeted softly, setting her briefcase on the counter. “How’s Luna doing?”

Becky didn’t look up immediately. Instead, she adjusted Luna in her arms, trying to suppress the anger that had been building up for days.

“She’s fine,” Becky said, her voice quieter than usual. “Just like I’m fine. I’ve been managing everything here while you’ve been... busy.”

Freen’s brow furrowed at the sharpness in Becky’s tone. “Becky, I know you’re upset, but I had a late meeting. I’m not doing this on purpose.”

“It’s always the same excuse, Freen,” Becky snapped, her voice rising now. “You’re always busy! You always have a meeting, a deal to close, an investor to entertain! What about me? What about us? I’m not asking for much. I’m asking for you to be here, to show up!”

Freen’s face tightened. She could feel the frustration rising in her chest, but she tried to keep her voice calm. “I’m trying, Becky. You don’t understand how much I’m juggling right now. My company needs me. I have responsibilities, and I’m doing everything I can to make sure our family is taken care of.”

Becky shook her head, tears threatening to spill over. “I know that, Freen. But what about me? What about the fact that I’m here, 24/7, taking care of our daughters, keeping the house running, and I don’t have anyone to lean on? I’m tired. I need you. I need my partner.”

Freen took a step forward, her voice softening. “I’m here, baby. I swear, I’m doing this for us. I just don’t know how to balance everything anymore. I feel like I’m drowning.”

Becky’s lip trembled. “I’m not asking you to be perfect, Freen. I’m asking you to be present. I need you to be here with me, not just physically, but emotionally. I need to feel like we’re in this together. But lately, it feels like I’m doing it all alone.”
