Monday morning came, and Ling was at her desk, trying to catch up on the backlog of work from last week. Her mind, however, was far from focused on the spreadsheets in front of her. It was still lingering on that brief interaction with Orm. Was that an invitation?

But when Orm entered the office, she was surrounded by people. She moved through the office like a ray of sunshine, chatting with her friends and laughing in a way that made it hard for Ling to breathe.

Orm's popularity was undeniable. She was always the center of attention, surrounded by colleagues asking her for advice, compliments, or just basking in her effortless charm. Ling, on the other hand, couldn't even get through a casual conversation without sounding like she was auditioning for an awkward silence.

"I can't believe it's already Monday," Orm said from the other side of the room, laughing with someone else. "The weekend flew by!"

Ling didn't know why she even bothered looking over. It was always the same. Orm was a social butterfly, flitting from one conversation to the next while Ling was left observing from a distance.

It wasn't jealousy. Not exactly. It was more like awe. How did Orm manage to be so... alive?
