DEVIL MAY CRY AFTER STORY

Chapter I...Hold it

"Colonel Arkham, all units are ready to enter the building. We are waiting for confirmation," said the soldier as he marched towards the heavily armed lady. The sun was hiding as a considerable group of soldiers surronded a suspected base of infiltrators from the underword, it was already a year since the war between worlds began, Colonel Mary Ann Arkham was designated to lead the extermination of demons that crossed the realm of humans, to keep all kind of information off the hands of the enemy. Lady sighed as the time was almost there.

"Okey, times up, we enter at 60, the front line get in after the bombers and the back ups be ready to the sight, special devil hunters with me, now move!, move!, move!" said the lady as she commanded the units, as told the soldiers proceed, making the reinforce door of the building explode, a small unit enter the base, exploring all areas, then proceed to go up to the next floor. "No trace of demons, Colonel," said a soldier through the communicator.

"Keep marching and do not fire non combat demons, any kind of information is key" said Coronel Arkham, causing one of her officials to argue about that order "Colonel excuse me, but that wasn't the instructions from headquarters" as the soldier notice the contradiction with the previous order "Kill all devil creatures of the area" Lady answer him inmediately "You are not in a position to question orders soldier, this is an unofficial procedure reserved to higher ranks in the field, just do as told, thats an order!" as he replied "Yes, ma'am..."

The small army began to go up the building, the rain of bullets began as the demons suddenly appeared from the shadows. These were special, they could hide and attack with their fingers as they were spears. Little could be done against these just 5 demons, showing the clear difference in strength, one by one the units were falling in front of the one in charge, she was immersed with intense emotions as she sees her soldiers die in front of her eyes, making her remember her past failures... "Colonel!, Colonel!" shouted a soldier while firing his heavy gun at the demons, making her come back to reality.

"Special devil hunter units, divide the targets, we're taking them one by one, the rest secure the wounded, back up units secure this floor" then she carried her missile launcher and without any hesitation she fired at the ground where the demons were standing, making it fall and separating the group of demons in half, "Now!, some of you come with me, the rest make this fucking bastards regret ever living" she said as she jump off the floor leading her units. After they reached the ground, there were no demons to be seen; it was like they were the prey to the demons, but not for much longer, "Come at me, you bastards!" Said Colonel Arkham as she frenetically shot her missile launcher, destroying the place partially, making the demons go out of their hiding place, once again the rain of bullets began, and Mary threw her weapon to take other more suitable for precision.

It was 6 soldiers agains 3 demons, but that wasn't enought and she knew it, so by herself went to attack one of them, charging without hesitation; the demon attacked her, stretching it's fingers at her, as fast as a bullet, Lady barely dodged it, she rolled on the ground and fired her gun at the demon, but great was her surprise to see the bullets weren't affecting them as they should, now their most reliable weapon agains the devils wasn't of use "What the fuck is this!?", suddenly she heard one of her soldiers shouting with all his strength, losing his limbs and another being pierced by spears, letting only 4 soldiers available to fight. "You gotta be kidding me, as if it weren't bad enough",  after that she thought to herself "This is going from bad to terrible, there's not time to think", then she ran to reach her missile laucher, but a demon came out of the shadows and pierced her right thigh, she contained the pain as she could, took her guns and fired at the demon making it retract its nails, with great effort she finally reached her launcher, change the charge, then shot at one of the demons a large amount of antidemon gas, causing it to weaken, then Lady used this chanche to empty her guns at the demon, finally killing it. Now she had the answer to kill them all. The room was filled with the gas,  but unfortunately, this action not only affected the demons, but the soldiers as well, and because she didn't warn about her actions, she knew she was responsible to kill the rest of the demons left in the room. 

Taking out her mask, she tried to calm herself to percieve better where the demons were hiding, witout warning one of them attack her piercing her left hand, but Mary used this to know it's precise location and finish it with the rest of her bullets"It would appear you are not that inmune to the antidemon substance, it only take a bigger amount to take you down" as she remarked the only demon left appeard behind her back ready to kill her, but she didn't even bother to look back, she jumped where her launcher was, pointed her gun at the devil just to say "Jackpot" killing it instantly, but worsening the situation of their defenseless soldiers due to the toxic gas in the room.

She knelt for a moment because of the fatigue and her wounds, but Little was her rest as she notice there was still a demon up, so with the strength she had left pointed at the devil, not reaching the objective, but making the gas to explode near enought to affect the demon and not her units, so the soldiers could finished the last demon in the room.

"All remaining units, come to my location, take the wounded and secure the area". After a while, they confirmed that more than half of the special units were killed, making Mary extremely angry and feeling impotent "Not again"... "Colonel we have found in some of the floors non combat demons", said one of the soldiers, "Leave the rest to me and remember, this is unofficial procedure, so there's no need to inform, I'll finish them myself after the interrogation"

She walked to the location of the inoffensive demons, she asure them one thing "you won't die here today, don't worry, I don't want to harm you" the demons saw her with disconfort and confusion, so then she took her guns and threw then away so they could see she wasn't meaning any harm. "Go straig this corredor, there is an emergency exit at the end of the stairs, get out, then, right before the Street there are sewers, you can scape from there, Hurry up!" they didn't see another option so they followed her instructions as a small demon child thank her and give her her bunny doll, wich only brought her bad memories. "Thank you" she said as she didn't see them anymore, so she proceeded to put a bomb in the área to eliminate all evidence.

After some hours, treating her wounds and resting from the battle she Heard "It would appear God wasn't with you tonight Colonel Arkham" as she Heard a familiar voice throught a device, it was Mr. Vice President "I am so disapointed of your lately perfomance Colonel Mary Ann Arkham, not only most of your units die, but according to the inform there was just five hotiles in the area, how can you explain such tremendous demostration of weakness" Swallowing saliva and her pride she answered "Sr. These demons, they were different, they were resistance to the antidemon liquid Sr. I'm assuming the demons are looking for more ways to adapt to our methoths" "That's rather unfortunate, but doesn't justify the fact that you fail on your mission, just wait for more instructions".

"This fucking asshole" she told to herself before getting ready to head back to her apparment, but it was in the headcuarters, so she thought she wouldn't rest well in there, so she decided to go somewhere else...
