On the other side of the door was my neighbor.
"Hi, this is me," she said.
"I apologize, but I just wanted to know who was knocking because I don't really know anyone here."
She came in and assisted me with everything, decorating my room with a few patterns and letting me use a few items from her house while I saved up for mine. She asked me a few questions, but I didn't respond to any of them since I didn't want her to know anything about my past phone calls. In any case, we had to be decent neighbors.
"Oh, and my name is Jenny."
"Prince King."
"As in Prince King"
"Yes, I am both a prince and a king."
"Wow, that's amazing."
"We can use each other's time unless you plan to move in with someone else," I answered.
"See, I'm sure it is. By the way, I stay alone in there if you ever need any company."
She chuckled as I answered, "Oh yeah, OK, no problem. The good thing is we are nose and mouth."
It wasn't something I would have enjoyed at the time since I didn't want to become attached to or engaged with someone other than myself when she offered to provide me company.
Right now, all I truly wanted was privacy. Jenny was a kind individual; she gave me detailed information about the entire location. She informed me that only building residents were permitted to use the gym located on the first level of the same structure. if your residency card had arrived at all. She gave me tips about hangout spots, the park, the Eiffel Tower, and other things that would keep me from becoming bored.
"That's to say, you can always leave on your own if you truly start to become bored here. Yes, that's a great spot to hang out; I always want to. I enjoy visiting parks where individuals exhibit public displays of affection."
"Well, we'll see about that; I just need to gather my thoughts before I take any action," I said to myself.
When Jenny questioned me about the university where I was going to be studying, because had honestly told her that I had come to study and that when I finished, I was going to be leaving the country. She seemed to like the idea of me looking for a job so that I could study while working.
After a few days, Jenny vanished. I had no idea where she had disappeared because she never left any indication of her whereabouts before she departed.
As soon as I received my resident ID, I started looking for work. Landed a fantastic job as a systems administrator at a software engineering company. Where I eventually grew closer to someone I met there. Her name was Louisa, and she was a cancer patient's sister.
I once asked Louisa and her sister to stop by the gym. Her sister was initially hesitant to move away since she never wanted to.
"She prefers to stay inside, and I want her to do whatever she wants because she doesn't have much time left." Louise One day, I told her.
"Don't be pessimistic; I'm confident everything will work out."
She continued, nearly sobbing, in a low voice, "Prince, tell me when her cancer is at stage 4 and there is nothing you can do about it at the moment."
"Well, I don't know whether it's feasible, but if it is, please let your sister know that someone is interested in talking to her. Perhaps I can offer her hope again if she still has any time."
"If one condition is met, I'll do that."
"In what condition?"
"I will kill you personally if you hurt my sister."
"Yeah, I know you can't possibly be in doubt about that."
"All right, let's check in at the gym tomorrow," she said.
"Okay, no problem; I'll be there," I said.
When I got back home late, I noticed that there were a lot of female neighbors in the building I was staying in. She was named Precious, and when I met her in the lift, she was going up on floor 24, so when I got in, she punched in her room number and reset mine, so I had to go all the way up to where she would be getting off.
She subsequently apologised and introduced herself to me when we arrived at her floor. She said, "Are you here?" as she stood in the way of the lift's closing. "Yeah, like two months now," she inquired.
"I haven't seen you, but I know everyone here because they frequent go to the gym on the first floor."
"But I always visit the gym too."
"Is it true, and I haven't noticed you there?"
"Well, here I am right now."
"What name could a stranger have?"
"Prince"
"Precious," she said.
"Well, nice to meet you, precious."
"Hi Prince, It's nice to meet you, too. You mentioned you go to the gym. I do that every day."
"When do you usually visit there?"
"Morning"
"Oh, well, because I go there in the evening, perhaps that explains why I haven't seen you anyhow."
