Volume 1: The Great Beginning

Start from the beginning

YN looked first to the seat behind him, and saw nothing. Then, he turned all around, searching for the source of the voice he knew he hadn't imagined, but to no avail, it went undiscovered. Besides from the clerk that had to be inside the convenience store somewhere, he had to be all alone here. There were no other cars here.

Again, YN wondered if he was simply too tired to function.

YN: I really should sleep...

Yet, he had a deadline he had to meet if he wanted this opportunity to come to fruition. He couldn't miss out on this. If he did, all this effort so far would be for waste.

He has to tough it out.

To his resolve, the car fired up as he twisted the keys again, and YN was off into the cool night of the road ahead.

With the fuel station far behind him, the road continued on for a long time.

As the current radio station started to fade to static, YN grabbed the dial and proceeded to search for something, anything to break the silence.

"*BZZT*—nd you're listening to Classic Country! Radio station KX-(*heavy static*)"

Abruptly, and unlike before when he'd been using this radio, the signal went dead from what sounded like such clear reception only a second ago.

That cut out rather quickly. Am I under some power lines or something?

YN tried leaning forward and looking up out of the windshield, but was cut off by the sound of a not-so-familiar, familiar voice.

"You will help my beloved, won't you?"

YN, immediately upon hearing this, with robot-like motion, sat straight back, stiff as a board, and grabbed the rear view mirror and angled it down and to the right to where the voice had came from. —His back seat, again.

YN: — — —

His mouth went dry, and a shiver of fear and shock shot down his spine at the presence that shouldn't be in the car at that moment.

Unable to even gulp down his apprehension, he could only see the black-figure of a woman, sitting in his back seat.

He had never seen anything like it.

It was almost like it was CG, but really good CG.

After what seemed like the longest few seconds of his life, he jerked his torso around to look upon the apparition with his own eyes.

YN: —?!

—Nothing.

This figure, like she hadn't been there at all, had vanished.

Nothing but an empty seat, was what he saw.

YN: ...I really, really just need to pull over and sleep. Something isn't right with me.

Feeling the need to do something about what he thought was an issue with himself, YN shook his head, and tried to let the thing he just saw be written off as little more than a consequence of sleep deprivation.

He began to move his foot to press the brake and slow down as he pulled off to the side of the road, but no sooner than he took his foot off the throttle and moved it, a light came across the horizon.

A very bright light.

YN: Ahh, jeez... Turn your brights off.

However, YN quickly realized this light wasn't the headlights of another wayward traveler. It was approaching much too quickly, and it was much too bright to be just a simple vehicle like his.
