The city of Ninjago had always seen the ninja as mature, wise protectors. After all, they had been around for years, taking down foes that would make ordinary people tremble in fear. Their skill, their leadership, their wisdom—it all pointed to them being in their 30s, at the very least.
That belief lasted until an unfortunate—yet hilarious—video surfaced on the internet.
It started innocently enough. The footage, recorded from a security camera inside the monastery, showed Lloyd Garmadon lying flat on his back on the kitchen floor. His green gi was slightly crumpled, and he had an expression of pure guilt.
Kai, the red ninja of fire, walked into the frame, stopping just short of Lloyd and sighing deeply, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Lloyd, you have to stop stealing cookies from the cookie jar."
Lloyd, still sprawled out, looked up, panic flashing in his eyes. "I—uh, I don't know what you're talking about."
Kai crossed his arms. "Lloyd. There are crumbs everywhere." He gestured to the small mess on the floor. "You didn't even try to hide it this time."
Lloyd huffed, sitting up slightly. "It's not a crime to want cookies!"
"It is when Wu specifically said no more snacks after training. You're grounded. No questions asked."
The video could've ended there, but what really shook the citizens of Ninjago was what happened next.
Lloyd gawked up at Kai, utterly offended. "That's not fair! I'm the leader!"
Kai just turned, completely unimpressed. "Do you want me to get Zane and Nya?"
Lloyd's reaction—his wide eyes and immediate retreat into guilty silence—only cemented the absurdity of the situation.
And with that, the video ended.
But the damage was done.
The internet exploded overnight.
"WAIT, LLOYD IS HOW OLD???"
"ARE THEY NOT ALL IN THEIR 30s???"
"I THOUGHT THEY WERE GROWN ADULTS—WHY IS KAI GROUNDING HIM LIKE A CHILD???"
"Bro, why does Kai sound like an older brother babysitting?"
"Guys... have we been lied to this entire time?"
News stations picked it up. The citizens of Ninjago were in shock. Had they really never questioned the ninja's ages before? They had been around for so long, saving the city countless times. The idea that they might still be teenagers never even crossed their minds.
Meanwhile, at the monastery, Lloyd sat at the table, staring blankly at his phone as his social media notifications exploded.
Kai walked by, glancing at his screen. "Oh yeah, by the way, Wu wants to talk to you about that whole 'getting caught on camera' thing."
Lloyd groaned, dropping his head onto the table. "I am never gonna live this down."
