"Go daddy go!" (Sons name) cheered as he sat next to me in the seats as the Oilers played against the New York Rangers. The time was late in the second and the score was 2-1 with the Oilers in the lead. Ryan's girlfriend sat on the other side of (sons name). Tonight was suppose to be a girls night out but the sitter for (sons name) cancelled last minute so we got an extra ticket and he seems to be having fun. He hums to the music and watches the game and cheers for Jordan when he takes the ice. (Sons name) was born a few years ago, a year after Jordan and I got married. He is the best thing that ever happened with us. I glanced at the ice to see the puck get passed from Taylor to Jordan as they skated up the ice towards the net. One of the Ranger players started gaining speed behind Jordan. The player in the Rangers uniform skated up and checked Jordan from behind sending him face first into the ice. I sat there in shock as everything just happened so fast. Jordan laid on the ice not moving and I felt (sons name) touch my sleeve to my jersey.
"Mommy is daddy okay?" He asked and I swallowed a lump in my throat.
"Yes daddy is okay. I am going to be right back sweetie. Stay here with Auntie (best friends name)." I spoke standing up and he nodded his head a little.
"Okay mommy." He spoke and I kissed his forehead quickly before walking down the isle and up the stairs. I made it to the main hallway quickly finding a security guard and I asked them to get me to the locker room. I had tears in my eyes as we walked down the hallway to the locker room. The hall felt like it was never ending as I walked.
"I don't know what happened. I just remember falling forwards with pain in my back." His voice rung in my ears as I was motioned to walk into the locker room where he sat on a medical bed being looked at. His back was towards me as he had prints where someone had touched his back. The bruises were light but visible. I walked around so he could see me and his lip was cut. "It's not as bad as it looks." He spoke reaching his arms out pulling me into a hug.
"I was so worried. You were just laying there on the ice Jordan. (Sons name) sat there and watched as it all happened." I cried into his bare shoulder as he hugged me.
"Shhh. I'm fine. Just saw stars for a few seconds and I got help to the locker room." He spoke as I stepped back to look at him. His eyes met mine as his lip bled a little and I took a tissue from the bed pressing it lightly to his lip.
"Mister Eberle I will be right back. Will you be okay?" The team doctor asked and Jordan nodded his head as the team doctor then walked out of the room.
"I might need stitches. There trying to figure that out because look at this." He spoke pointing at his lip that was bleeding. "Is (sons name) okay? Did he see it?" He asked quietly and I nodded my head a little.
"He is up with (best friends name) watching the game. He was cheering you on." I spoke making him smile a little.
"What was he saying this time?" He asked making me smile.
"The same one your mom taught him. The go daddy go." I spoke. I removed my hand from his bleeding lip along with the tissue. His lip was cut deep and just looked like it hurt.
"Don't get me wrong it hurts but it one of the last things I'm going to worry about. I am just hoping I don't have a concussion." He spoke just as I heard small footsteps followed by a 'daddy'. In ran (sons name) with (best friends name) trailing behind. Jordan smiled as our son ran over to the bed standing next to me. I picked him up sitting him next to Jordan and he looked at Jordan.
"Hey buddy." He spoke with a smile ruffling up (sons name) hair making him laugh a little.
"Daddy are you going to be okay?" He asked and Jordan smiled a little.
"Of course." He spoke and (sons name) nodded his head.
"Do we still have time to play soccer tomorrow?" He asked and Jordan looked at me.
"Just not in the house. I don't need another broken lamp." I spoke making Jordan laugh a little.
"Yeah (sons name) the lamp isn't a ball." Jordan laughed making (sons name) laugh a little.
