"Madam Sir... KS will always be at the MPT and with you...."
They extended their hands, locking their palms in their famous crisscross handshake, a final exchange falling over the team.
They were ready to fight back. They were ready to claim what was theirs.
Outside, Haseena handed the file to Amar as the pair exchanged an intense eye-lock. Amar smoothed the edges, his smug grin widening on his face.
"Prepare to lose Ms. Malik. The MPT will be ours...."
Haseena smiled, deflecting Amar's boastful ego. "Mr. Amar, I don't think there's any doubt to who will win but if you want to give yourselves a clap..." she said, raising her hands in a gesture. "I'm saying this from experience, Mr. Amar..." she spoke, directly glaring into his eyes. "That people who boast too much have nothing but bark and no show..."
SS and CC emerged into fits of laughter as Haseena slayed Amar with her words. Haseena silenced them with a glare, deep down chuckling inwardly. KS stepped forward, standing shoulder to shoulder with Haseena as she spoke.
"Sir, why not make our last mission interesting- the senior from the team who loses the mission will salute our Madam Sir..."
Amar gritted his teeth, his defenses crumbling momentarily. Haseena glanced slightly at KS, a bemused expression in her face.
Amar scanned the faces of Haseena and KS, his eyes piercing deep into his core. He had worked with them for quite a long time and Amar understood that they had no intention of being defeated. His defenses crumbled in front of their unwavering confidence. He exhaled, his sister's derogatory insults roaming in his mind. If he lost, Amar would not only lose the MPT but also the reputation in front of his family. He wouldn't let that happen. Amar composed himself, squaring his shoulders as a steely determination rose into his eyes. He would win, at any cost.
Diwan Ji stepped forward, silently whispering in Amar's ear.
"Sir don't accept the challenge. We can't lose face in front of these women."
Amar stiffened, his fingers curling tightly around the baton. He glanced at Ks, his gaze unflinching.
"Challenge accepted KS..."
He held the eye-lock for a few more seconds before disappearing into his cabin with his team.
The MPT team shared a knowing smirk, the delicious smile of victory seeping into their faces. Haseena glanced at the direction of Amar, her posture stiffening as she silently vowed to herself.
She would win back her station at any cost.
Over the next few weeks, the two teams worked tiringly, chasing leads and uncovering facts. None of them stopped. They had a race to finish.
One night, KS and Haseena sat in her cabin, files poured open on their desks. Their eyes spoke of a deep weariness, the weight of the mission speaking in volumes.
"Madam Sir, I've activated my network. We'll get a lead anytime..."
Haseena nodded leaning back in her chair as she massaged her temples. "Good Ks. We need to finish this case as soon as possible."
Unware to the pair, Amar strode silently towards their cabin. He stood near the doorway, an amused grin spreading over his face. He knew that they hadn't received any leads and that both teams were still locked in the same place.
"Ms. Mallik..." he called as he stepped in, escalating the tension in the room.
With a flicker of annoyance, KS stood and greeted him, balling her fists behind her back.
