"Beta ... there's no need to be strong always. You can let go. You should not risk your friendship with Ks without trying to restore it. I know how much you care for her Hasu and despite Ks's actions I know that she loves you too... first, forgive yourself beta and when the time comes -forgive her so that you both can move forward."

Haseena smiled, a thin watery smile as she nodded at her mother. She stood up to leave, her heart relieved with her mother's warmth. As Haseena stepped into her room, a wave of uncertainty washed over her.

For the first time ever- SHO Haseena Malik felt uncertain about the future.

***********

Following a sleepless night, Haseena arrived at the station only to find KS harrowed over the files. A silent smile passed over her face as she walked over to her desk. KS immediately stood up, desperately stifling a yawn, smiling at Haseena.

"Jai Hind Ms.."

Jai Hind KS..."

"Ms...." She said handing over the files. "I've completed all the files..."

Haseena glanced at her weary eyes, immediately feeling guilty for punishing Ks. She nodded, a faint smile on her lips as she ordered CC to keep the files in her cabin.

"Good job Ks ... take some rest. We'll talk later."

As Haseena stepped into her cabin, Ks felt relieved. She knew that she had a long way to go but Haseena's demeanor and warmth gave her a silent reassurance.

In her cabin, Haseena sat when her eyes caught a folded piece of paper. She opened it to find Ks's handwriting, her messy yet unique style peeking out.

"Madam Sir, I know I've committed a terrible mistake not just against our MPT- but against you. I'm not asking for forgiveness madam Sir because I know that this time, I crossed a line. All I'm asking for is one chance- to set things right."

Haseena folded the letter carefully tucking it in her drawer. She gazed at the sky, touched with a tinge of an afternoon crimson. Despite the uncertainty plaguing her heart, Haseena was certain that Ks deserved a chance.

************

Late at night, Haseena arrives at the venue, her heart thumping with nerves. The crescent sliver burned through the sky, fading with the rustling breeze, pelting Haseena's bare hands. She walked ahead, mesmerized by the beauty of the night sky when her eyes settled on a small rustic setup. Under the branches of a swaying tree, a blanket was laid, brimming with coffee mugs and sweets. Next to it, a rusted swing creaked on its metallic hinges, the sound groaning through the night.

Haseena's heart warmed immediately at the sight, yet she composed herself. She was here with a purpose not to be carried away with her emotions. Sighing, she sat down on the swing, gently rocking herself back and forth, her eyes fixed on the moon.

Ks settled next to her wordlessly, staring down at the ground. She fumbled with her fingers, cracking her knuckles rather loudly.

"Madam Sir, I know that there's nothing I can say to undo my actions. I've caused you and the MPT immense pain and for that I'm truly ashamed madam sir...."

"Ks ... you didn't just hurt me, but you raised questions on my integrity, on my honesty and my capability as an officer. How could you think that I would prioritize emotions over my duty ks?"

Ks sighed, Haseena's words pricking the guilt in her heart.

"Madam Sir, I acted in my haste and said words that I'm not proud of but ..."

"And what about the drama Ks- you faked your own death?" Haseena asked interrupting her.

"I wanted to prove a point madam sir but now I realize my mistake. I should never have played with your emotions. I let myself get carried away and....." She broke down, tears trailing her cheek.

Haseena sighed, crossing her arms as tears glistened in her eyes. She glanced at Ks. Haseena knew that KS was feeling guilty for her actions, that she truly repented yet Haseena's heart remained solid.

Ks looked up at Haseena holding her hand as she spoke. "Madam sir, I'm not asking for forgiveness. I know I've crossed my boundaries, stepping over a line I shouldn't have crossed. But please believe me madam sir that I'm truly sorry. I'm ready to face any consequences for my actions- no matter how severe they be."

Haseena's heart softened as she placed her hand on top of Ks. "Ks.... I know that you've understood the weight of your mistakes, but wounds need time to heal... your words and actions hurt me - more than I could express in words. You destroyed my trust as a senior and a friend and Ks, once broken trust needs time."

"I understand Madam Sir. I'm ready to cross the road of my consequences... You can punish me however you want madam sir ..."

"Ks....as a senior I'm ordering a two-week line hazir for you. You will report to me directly in the morning and at night. You will also review each case file and prepare a report on how we can solve crime with emotions..."

Ks sighed, nodding her head in acceptance.

"I'm not punishing you because you hurt me but Ks... you have to understand the importance of emotions- that they are strength not a weakness..." She paused glancing at Ks's eyes. "Also, you'll need to apologize on behalf of the team."

"I understand Madam Sir...."

The two friends sat in silence, the tension reducing gradually. Ks felt relieved, peace returning to her heart as she stepped about reforming her actions. "Madam Sir...do you forgive me...?"

Haseena closed her eyes, the dreaded question crumbling her defenses. What could she say? Haseena didn't know whether she could forgive Ks or not.

"Ks...as a senior I think it would be better for your actions to speak for yourself...."

"And as my friend Madam Sir...?"

"As a friend, you'll have to try harder to earn my forgiveness Ks... what you did was unacceptable...."

"Madam Sir, punish me however you want but please let me have my friend back...."

Haseena glared at her a while before twisting her ears rather painfully.

"Aiieeeee...." Ks shouted, her pleas falling on deaf ears.

"What do you think of yourself KS - faking your own death and then accusing me of being emotional when I stepped in to save your life? Did you even think how I could live without you?"

Gritting her teeth, Ks bore the pain silently allowing Haseena to express her pian. Haseena twisted her ear more, tightening her grip.

"As a friend I thought you'd stand beside me. I thought you'd be supporting me when the whole world stood against me, but no your short-tempered brain had to fake your own death just to prove a point..."

Ks chuckled at Haseena's words causing Haseena to glare at her. "Are you laughing right now?"

Ks nodded bracing herself for the reprimand to come.

"Chalo! Start doing sit-ups."

Ks opened her mouth to protest yet silenced herself as she saw Haseena's deepening scowl.

As Ks started her punishment, Haseena felt relaxed, the pain in her lessening. She knew that KS still had a long road ahead of her yet as she glanced at her little angry bird, Haseena trusted that the everything would be settled.
