The scent of gunpowder and iron thickened the air. Smoke curled against the dim warehouse lights, casting long shadows over bodies that lay motionless, blood pooling beneath them.

William exhaled slowly, wiping the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand. The fight had been messy, but no one stood a chance against the king of the mafia world:

William, known to his enemies as Thame.

Across from him, Lorenzo Vega, the infamous leader of a rival crime family, slumped against a stack of crates, his body trembling with ragged, dying breaths. Blood dripped from his lips as he forced out a hoarse chuckle.

Bloodied but defiant, Lorenzo forced a smirk.

"You're a ruthless bastard, Thame."

William stepped closer. "And you're already dead. You just don't know it."

A single gunshot rang out, echoing through the warehouse. Lorenzo's body jerked once, then stilled.

Silence.

The faint flicker of an overhead light buzzed, casting eerie shadows across the carnage. The stench of blood and sweat clung to the air. William barely blinked.

He rolled his shoulders, a sharp, uncomfortable pull tightening in his arm. That's when he noticed it, a dark stain blooming through his sleeve. The fight had been brutal, and somewhere between dodging blades and dodging bullets, he'd been grazed.

He clicked his tongue. Annoying.

Luca stepped closer, concern flashing across his face. "Boss, you're hurt."

William scoffed, brushing off the blood. "It's nothing."

"Sir, it still needs stitches. You know the protocol."

William sighed. He knew exactly what that meant. They couldn't risk a hospital. Too many questions. Too many eyes.

Like always, they'd find some unlucky doctor, force them to patch him up, and then get rid of them. No loose ends.

He barely cared. Just another necessary inconvenience.

William with a bored expression said, "Fine. Pick someone fast."

Luca nodded, already making the call.

The streets were quiet, save for the occasional hum of a passing car. The entrance of Bangkok General Hospital glowed under the streetlights, nurses and doctors filtering in and out, lost in their own exhaustion.

In a black SUV, parked just a little too discreetly across the street, two of William's men waited and watched.

And then they saw him.

A slim figure in light pink scrubs, walking out of the hospital with a tired, almost pouty expression. His dark hair fell messily over his forehead, and a baby blue ID badge swung from his chest. Dr. Est.

Perfect.

Before Est could react, a black van pulled up beside him.

A rough hand grabbed his wrist, a sharp yank, a muffled gasp, a needle piercing his skin before he could even scream.

The world blurred. His knees buckled.

Darkness swallowed him whole.

Est woke up with a sharp inhale.

His head throbbed. His wrists felt heavy, bound. A pulse of fear crawled up his spine as his vision adjusted to the dimly lit room.

The air smelled different.

Smoke. Leather. Blood.

Suddenly a hand gripped his arm.

"You're awake? Let's get to work." Luca said with a straight face.

Est barely had time to react before he was dragged forward. His feet stumbled over the cold floor as Luca pulled him through the hall, leading him toward a large door.

It creaked open. The room was massive, filled with expensive leather furniture, towering bookshelves, and a sleek desk in the center, covered in scattered papers.

And behind it, sat him.

William.

Est's lungs forgot how to function.

The man barely spared him a glance at first, focused on the papers in front of him, a single hand adjusting his cuff. But then his dark eyes lifted.

And met Est's.

The air shifted instantly.

It was like a slow burn, like staring into something both deadly and mesmerizing at the same time. William's gaze was deep, unreadable, but something in it made Est's skin feel too warm.

His pulse pounded. He should have looked away. Should have broken eye contact.

But he couldn't.

He was frozen. Trapped. Held still by nothing but a look.

Then, William moved.

He stood up, and without hesitation, pulled his shirt over his head.

Est sucked in a sharp breath.

He wasn't prepared. His gaze flickered downward before he could stop himself. Broad shoulders, toned chest, sharp collarbones.

The air in the room felt too thick. His fingers twitched slightly at his sides.

Heat crawled up his neck. Then his cheeks. Then his ears.

Crimson red.

William noticed. Of course, he noticed.

The corner of his mouth curled, barely. A smirk, not quite kind.

Then, voice low and unreadable, he murmured,

"Baby, help me up."

Est's heart stopped.

His face burned, completely and utterly red.

Oh no.

This was going to be a long night.
