The rest of the OBX characters as themselves!
This will not follow the plot of the treasure hunt, although it has some similarities to the story such as Ward being dead from hunting the treasure, but nobody knows that. Everyone thinks it was just some freak accident out on the Drauters that killed him. Rose, Wheeze and Sarah don't live with Rafe at Tannyhill & he's the one who inherited the family business and most of the assets, not Lady Liberty.
Brooke introduction is at the end of this chapter so keep scrolling!!

Brooke's Introduction/Pov:
The Outer Banks smelled like salt and freedom.
Brooke Rowe stood on the balcony of her new apartment, the breeze lifting strands of her dark hair and carrying them across her face. The ocean stretched before her, endless and wild, the waves crashing against the shore in a rhythmic pulse that matched the thrum in her chest. It was different here—quieter than New York, softer. It felt like a place where she could breathe.
Her fingers itched for a pencil, for a paintbrush, for anything to capture the colors of the sunset melting into the horizon. But she hadn't touched a canvas in weeks. The inspiration she'd been searching for, the reason she'd packed up her life and left everything behind, still hadn't come.
She leaned against the rusted railing, staring out at the water. Her grandmother had been right—Brooke needed to leave, to see the world beyond the small, cluttered apartment in Brooklyn where she'd spent most of her life. The past was heavy there, pressing down on her shoulders every time she walked past the old photographs hanging on the walls. She had been just a teenager when her parents died, and after that, it had been just her and her grandmother, two women trying to hold each other together with fraying seams.
When her grandmother encouraged her to go, Brooke had hesitated. Change was terrifying. But staying in the same place, trapped by memories that weren't even hers to hold, was worse. So she packed up her things, found a place by the beach, and let the sound of the ocean guide her here.
But now, standing in the middle of a life that was supposed to be new, all she felt was lost.
Her apartment was small, barely furnished beyond a mattress on the floor and a few scattered sketchbooks. She told herself it didn't matter, that she would find her way once she let go. But that was easier said than done.
She turned away from the railing and walked inside, the warm breeze following her through the open doors. A single canvas leaned against the wall, untouched since she arrived.
Brooke ran a hand through her hair, exhaling. Maybe tomorrow she'd paint. Maybe tomorrow she'd feel like herself again.
For now, all she had was the ocean, the quiet, and the ache of something she couldn't quite name.
