Picture of Mason

Mason's POV

I walk through the halls of Grand Hall High. No one notices, no one looks my way.

Thankfully.

When reaching my locker, I quickly grab my books and turn to scurry off towards my class but instead trip and fall to the floor making my black framed glasses fall from my face. My face becomes hot while I quickly scramble to pick them up and examined them.

Thank goodness they aren't broken.

I looked up to see Zack Gillion leaning against the red lockers laughing along with all of his friends.

Zack was the school's jock, star football player and also my bully. We used to be friend actually for seven years, but when freshman year of high school rolled around... I guess people change. Well he did.

I hugged my books tightly to my chest while straightening my sweater my grandma knit for me and ran down the hall to my class.

Well, fast walked. Running wasn't allowed.

"Hey, Mas!" My best friend Travis smiled when I sat my books down on the desk beside him.

He was oblivious of my heavy breathing and pink cheeks still embarrassed from the incident.

"Hey", I sighed quietly searching through my back back for some paper and a stray pencil to take notes.

Mrs. Beatron walked into classroom holding books and folders closely to her chest while holding a cup of coffee that looked like it was about to tip.

Quickly standing up from my seat I walk to her and taking some of her books and the coffee cup, setting them down onto the mahogany desk.

"Oh, thank you Mason! You're too kind." She smiled at me while setting the rest of her books on the desk.

"You're welcome ma'am." I smiled back and made my way back to my seat.

"Alright everyone! It's pop quiz time!" Everybody groaned except for me and Travis. I loved the pop quizzes in this class. AP Chemistry was my favorites class of the day along with AP History, I knew everything about chemistry and nothing could distract me from it.

Suddenly, the door whips open revealing none other than Cassedee Simons. The class grew quiet as she walked down the  isles of desks, her boots echoing off the linoleum floors in the classroom.

"Miss Simons what's your excuse for today?" Mrs. Beatron sighed rubbing her forehead.

Cassedee plopped down onto her chair, swung her legs onto the rickety desk and crossed her ankles.

"I don't really have one today but I'll give you a good one tomorrow, I promise" she sarcastically smiled, then focus her attention on her chip fingernail polish.

I didn't realized how long I was looking at her, studying her as if she was a different species; when suddenly she looks up from her fingers and in my direction, locking her eyes with mine. The corner of her mouth rose up into a smirk, making my eyes widen and heat creep up my neck to my cheeks. Realizing I've been caught staring I whipped my head around taking and started to write down the notes Mrs. Beatron wrote on the white board as if I wasn't just full on staring.

Maybe there is one thing that distracts me in AP Chemistry.
