As the sun began to rise and the first light of the day crept through the window, Kaori stirred in bed.

She opened her eyes and took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh, cool air. Slowly, she sat up and stretched, feeling the stiffness in her limbs begin to dissipate. With a small sigh, she got out of bed and started her morning routine.

...

Kaori's POV

Yesterday, I attended a meeting. It went well, and there were no problems. Despite my bad memory, I still remember the conversation we had.

" Tsugikuni-san, I have a proposal for you. Do you think you can lend me your ears for a while?"

Principal Nezu turned to me with a serious expression.

"Sure. Go ahead. I'm listening," I answered, not wanting to appear rude.

"Thank you. So, as I was saying... Will you please attend our school?"

Principal Nezu asked hesitantly, his sharp eyes watching me.

I fell silent for a moment, thinking about his proposal. It didn't seem like a bad idea.
However, one question lingered in my mind- why would he want me to attend school?

"Why?" I asked.

Principal Nezu smiled, while the others in the room remained quiet.

"Lately, reports of disappearances have been quite frequent. The people who vanished without a trace were often teenagers or children. Last week, a police officer stumbled upon a place that seemed eerie. He mentioned a strange smell coming from the area, so he decided to investigate.
What he found left him shocked and traumatized so much so that he's still in the hospital today. The missing people were all there. No survivors, only bodies. It was strange-each victim was either missing a limb or an arm. When I heard your statement about man-eating demons, I came
to the conclusion that you might be able to help."

Principal Nezu's expression remained serious as he finished speaking. His words made my blood run cold.

Disappearance? Missing body parts? That was definitely a demon's doing. But what did that have to do with me attending school?

After pondering the situation, I looked at Principal Nezu blankly.

"Does this happen often?" I asked.

"No. This is the first time in years that such a case has occurred," he replied.

I crossed my arms and leaned back slightly, deep in thought. If it was a demon, I had no
choice but to step in. But something still felt off.

"Why do you want me to attend school, then?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

Nezu adjusted his posture before answering. "We believe that the culprit might be targeting students specifically. By enrolling in the school, you could investigate more closely. Besides, we need someone strong enough to handle this situation, and I believe you are the right person for the job."

I sighed. "If I refuse?"

"Then, I'm afraid more students might fall victim to this unknown enemy," Principal Nezu replied, his voice laced with concern.

I clenched my fists. I hated being involved in things like this, but I couldn't ignore it either.

"...Fine. I'll do it," I finally said.

Principal Nezu's expression softened. "Thank you, Tsugikuni-san. I trust that you'll do your best."
