⋆˚✿˖° Chapter 7 ⋆˚✿˖°

Start from the beginning

He spotted some trio of Border agents, their movements precise and efficient as they systematically dismantled a nest of Rad. The agents worked with a practiced ease, their trion weapons flashing, leaving behind only smoldering wreckage.

Ku watched for a moment, a familiar sense of camaraderie and respect stirring within him. If the border agents managed to get through their rank then he can. He can see from the corner of his eye how stronger he was from the three.

The sun dipped lower, painting the sky in fiery hues of orange and purple. As Ku turned to leave, a flicker of movement caught his eye.

From a distance, Ku observed a lone Rad. Its form, distorted and flickering, lurked near a shadowed alleyway. It hadn't noticed him, so Ku remained where he was, his hand already moving to his weapon. There was no need for the dramatic transformation into his trigger form; this wasn't a flashy battle, but a quiet, precise elimination. He loaded his custom-made sidearm, a silent weapon designed specifically for him, its sleek lines reflecting the setting sun.

Unlike most Border sniper rifles, whose range and power are directly tied to the user's trion output, Ku's weapon was different. Its design transcended the limitations of typical trion-based weaponry. Miku, with her unparalleled understanding of trion technology, had crafted this for him, a weapon capable of delivering devastating strikes from extreme distances without sacrificing precision. The silent shot that followed was a testament to Miku's genius. But while the weapon itself was silent, the explosion of the Rad upon impact was not. The sheer amount of trion Ku channeled into the single shot created a small, but noticeable blast.

Most guns, even those designed for long-range sniping within Border, struggled to maintain accuracy and power at such distances. But Ku's was an exception. The weapon's performance, coupled with his enhanced eyesight-a natural talent further honed by training-made him a perfect fit for the sniper role. It wasn't just his skill, though; it was Mirai's keen observation that had placed him there.

Mirai, with her uncanny ability to assess individuals, had recognized Ku's patience, his quiet demeanor, his sharp focus-qualities that made him ideally suited for the role. "Ku is patient and not as loud as Shu," Mirai had said, a knowing smile playing on her lips. "He'll make a fine sniper." And Mirai hadn't just assigned Ku his position; she'd also been instrumental in Ku's overall training. She'd taught Ku so much, not just about combat, but about life itself. She'd taught them how to navigate their neighborhood, how to utilize new types of triggers, even how to cook, despite Shu's infamous kitchen disaster. They'd learned to fish together, to fight together, and most importantly, to be themselves.

The memories of those days, of shared laughter and hard-won lessons, brought a smile to Ku's lips. He missed those times intensely, the bond he'd forged with his friends and mentor. The setting sun cast a warm glow on his face, a silent tribute to the past, and a promise of the future. He was ready.

This expanded version adds more detail to Ku's weapon, his skills, and his relationship with Mirai. It delves deeper into the backstory, providing a more complete picture of Ku's training and his personal growth. The descriptive language is richer, enhancing the atmosphere and emotional impact of the scene. The reflective tone at the end adds depth to the character.

It was silent. The explosion is not that loud but not that silent for Jin and Yuma to not notice. They turned their face to the source of sound and it looked like it was from a very long distance and whoever made that mini explosion probably got away already so they didn't bother going there. They stared at each other before one of them shrugged and looked back to whatever they were doing before.

Jin put a hand on his earpiece and thanked every border agent around him who are resting, stretching, having fun, and carrying some bags full of Rads, "Ok, operation complete. Good work everyone, Thanks for all your efforts!"

Mikumo who was sitting on a bench behind Jin and Yuma spoke up, "That means irregular gates won't be opening anymore, right?"

Jin stretched his arms, "Yeah. From today everything will go back to its usual motion." Mikumo sighed in relief, "Thank Goodness.."

Yuma, who was looking at the sac full of Rads put a hand on his chin as his face showed a not obvious amusement, "But really, they serve their purpose to be great in numbers."

Jin walked up from behind him and started petting his head. "What the hell are you talking about. You were really useful. It was solved due to you and Replica-sansei's help."

Yuma made a duck face once more and raised his index finger, "Don't forget Ku..!"

Jin continued talking, although he smiled when he heard his small statement, "It's too bad you're not part of the border agents. I'd have had you acknowledge publicly for your meritorious deed."

When Jin stopped messing with Yuma's hair, Yuma turned to face Mikumo as he heard the last sentence, "Then I want Osamu to forfeit for my meritorious deed, take back his punishment."

When Yuma pointed a finger at him, Mikumo couldn't help but sweat drop at disbelief, "Eh?"

Jin, with a hint of acknowledgement, said, "Ah, this should probably be possible if we were to credit him for everything. His punishment would be withdrawn and he'd certainly be promoted to B-rank."

Mikumo, who was flabbergasted, said "W.. wait a moment. Even though I haven't done anything!?"

"Four eyes, if you haven't been here, I would have met Yuma. Don't you realize how much of an important person you are?" Jin said with flowers blooming in his background of his closed eyes grin.

"N-no way.."

Yuma supported Jin with a, "It's fine I tell you. Or otherwise my meritorious deed will go to waste."

The situation seems to pressure Mikumo a little. Even though Jin didn't give him a chance to speak as he continued talking. "By going up to B-rank you'll be part of the regular agent. No one will get mad at you for fighting outside the base."

"Don't run away when you're offered a power up. If you do, you'll regret it later. Also four eyes, you undoubtedly.." Jin stared at Mikumo with soft eyes and a smile.

"Have people you want to protect right? Didn't you enter border for this very reason?"
