"…That's right. As an A-Rank, you haven't heard the information, so let me inform you. I still don't know the whole story, however…" Kitora leaned on the bridge's railing. "It appears the Border base induction device is malfunctioning.  This is causing irregular gates to open. Headquarters engineers are investigating the problem. It's also happening outside your school. Since yesterday, we've had six reports of Neighbors appearing outside the Restricted Zone."

"I am a member of the protection squad. By fighting, I have a duty to protect the townspeople."

But then…

Hours passed after the neighbor incident at school. Ku was taken home to rest, and while he was initially happy about it, that feeling quickly turned into frustration as Miku, their team operator, who suddenly turned into a caretaker, took his phone and PSP, claiming he needed to lay down, sleep, or get some fresh air.

"What a pain," Ku thought as he slumped onto the sofa, his injured left shoulder aching slightly from the day's events. The dull throb served as a constant reminder of the incident that had unfolded earlier. The silence around him felt stifling, broken only by the soft ticking of the clock and loud keyboard typing of Miku using her laptop. She's probably working for a new training room.

He glanced out the window, where the leaves danced gently in the breeze, and the soft hues of the setting sun painted the sky. Despite the discomfort, the thought of stepping outside and embracing the cool evening air began to appeal to him.

He shifted his position, trying to find relief for his shoulder, and sighed. Resting on the couch felt impossible with the energy buzzing beneath the surface. Miku's words lingered in his mind: take some fresh air.

After a moment's hesitation, he decided he needed to stretch his legs, even if it meant dealing with the slight discomfort in his shoulder. He carefully slipped on his jacket, mindful of his injury, and opened the front door.

"Where are you going?" He stopped to turn as he heard Miku ask him, confusion yet a hint of focus written on her face as she never looked away from the laptop.

"Roof. I'll take some fresh air." Ku closed the door when he heard Miku's, '"M'kay take care."

As he stepped outside, the cool air enveloped him, washing away the stuffiness of the house. He took a deep breath, savoring the fresh scent of the evening. The gentle breeze felt refreshing against his skin, and for the first time since the incident, he felt a sense of calm wash over him.

He moved on the side of their base as he started climbing on the stairs attached to it. With each step, he could feel the tension in his body slowly easing. Maybe Miku was right-sometimes, a little fresh air was just what he needed to clear his mind and help him heal, both physically and mentally.

Ku stepped onto the rooftop, feeling the cool breeze wash over him, which momentarily eased the discomfort in his injured shoulder. As he took in the view, he was captivated by the sight before him: the vast expanse of shimmering sea water stretched out to the horizon, glistening under the fading sunlight.

In the distance, a bridge arched gracefully over the water, its silhouette contrasting beautifully against the evening sky. But what caught his attention even more were three figures standing near the bridge. Thanks to his side effect, he had grown accustomed to-he could see them clearly from his vantage point.

If his eyes weren't fooling him, the trio consisted of Kitora, Mikumo, and Yuma. They appeared to be deep in conversation, their gestures animated as they talked amongst themselves. Ku squinted, trying to make out their expressions. Kitora looked serious as usual, while Mikumo's expressions were a mix of curiosity and disbelief. Kuga, as always, seemed calm and composed, listening intently. Even for a distance, he can see Yuma's signature, (=3=), written on his face.
