Yuma hummed in amusement as he faced Ku and started walking backwards, "So you say I killed the Ilgar?"

"Yes."

SILENCE

"You.." Yuma stopped walking then grinned, the white in his eyes turning black once more, Ku paused at that. "Make up the stupidest lie."

Ku went silent, Yuma too, no one actually spoke after that. They remained silent. Ku who didn't get what he meant, tilted his head on the side. He 100% didn't understand what lie he said, "What do you mean?"

"You said it was me who killed the Ilgar. But It was killed even before I drowned it in the water." Ku froze, though his expressions remained the same, "Someone, probably from a distance, sniped them right in their weakness to make the Ilgar explosion stop. Their weak spot is in the Ilgar's front. And the only one who I know was the target of the Ilgar's.." ' Not to hide the fact that I saw from the corner of my eyes when the Ilgar started falling towards us' "Was you."

Ku didn't talk for a second before he made a face at his own stupidity. Yuma deadpanned at the sight. "Ah, yes, yeah, sure. I do. I have a trigger too happy now?"

Yuma made a satisfied grin, "Mhmmm. Ah, that reminds me. If you have a trigger then why didn't you just killed the Marmord in the window earlier that use a shield to protect me?"

Ku furrowed his eyebrows as he tried to remember when and why he did that "Hm? Oh that one? As if I'm going to use my trigger in front of someone who ask too much." He said referring to a certain four eyes.

Ku sighed before they paused to where Yuma saved Mikumo and started looking for something, "What are you two looking for anyways?"

"Replica said he might find out the one causing the gates to open outside the Forbidden zone." Yuma said as he started pulling out some rocks.

"Cool, I'm looking for the same thing." Ku said.

Yuma stopped to look at Ku with a little surprised look, "Oh rea-"

"Hey, Kuga" Someone called out from somewhere so Ku and Yuma immediately looked at the owner of the face only to face Replica.

Yuma paused as he recognized the voice. ".. Osamu?"

"For Humans possessing a high trion ability, the trion exerts an influence on the sensory organs and the brain. In some cases, it manifests itself with an extrasensory. These people's extrasensory perception is generally referred to as a side effect. It means there is an 'Additional Function'"  Replica explained this to Mikumo, emphasizing that these abilities represent an "additional function," a bonus capacity beyond the norm.

Mikumo, grappling with the concept, murmured, "An additional function…"  His contemplation was interrupted by the sound of rocks striking something nearby.  "Where are you, by the way?" he asked Yuma, needing clarification.

"I'm at school," Yuma replied unbotherdly, his signature duck face appearing as he brushed dust from his hands.

Mikumo's shock was palpable.  "School!? At this hour!?"

Yuma's casual response was, "Ku-chan's here with me."

Mikumo's astonishment grew.  "Akabane-san was WHAT!?"

Leaning against a wall, Ku greeted Mikumo with a seemingly unconcerned, "Oh, Good Morning," as if being at a school in the middle of the night with a neighbor was perfectly ordinary.

Yuma elaborated, "It's because Replica said he might know something about what's causing the irregular gates. We're investigating."

Mikumo's frustration bubbled to the surface. "Even so, you told me 'Leave it to the Border,' didn't you?"

Yuma offered a promise, "If I find anything, I'll tell you, Osamu."  Ku's voice chimed in from the background, "Oh, are you done?"

"Then see ya tomorrow," Mikumo heard Yuma and Ku say before their voices faded.  He sweat dropped, silently questioning whether these two ever actually slept. The irregular gates posed a serious threat, yet Yuma and Ku seemed to treat the investigation as a casual after-school activity.

"Ah by the way, Kuga" Ku called out so Yuma had to stop and look at him with his signature duck face.

"Yuma is fine." Ku nodded at that and continued after, "I forgot to say it but I encountered one of the reasons gates appeared outside Forbidden Zone earlier on my way here."

SILENCE

Yuma deadpanned, "Why did you just say it now?"

Ku shrugged
