“C’mon now, the only thing fed to you was water during your slumber.” He shrugged as he grabbed another slice. She didn’t know what to believe and that infuriated her causing goosebumps to rise from her skin. “…and some check-ups.” He casually dropped. She was about to retort but didn’t bother this time as she noticed the cycle just kept on rolling.

He brings something up.

They argue.

She marches up the stairs in anger.

She comes back down to eat and the cycle continues…

She closed her eyes as a way of just letting her anger bottle in and then opened it. The cycle ends now… She grabbed her whole grain bowl and used her spoon to pack a mouthful. That would prevent her from talking or retorting. At the corner of her eyes, she saw him grab a seat to sit and started on more papayas as he watched her eat…with a smile she had started to find creepy.

“I can get you some home pregnancy tests if you’d like?”

No response. She was busy chewing her whole grain.

“Would you like some?”

At this point, Eshaal had thought she had started to get on his nerves but when her eyes landed on him, he had nothing but a patient smile on his face as he nodded the question to her finishing off with a slice in his robotic hand.

She only shook her head from side to side as she filled her mouth with more whole grains and averted his eyes from his and just then he slid the tray to her from just adjacent her. she took a quick glance at the trey, there was one last slice left in the trey. “Eat it, pumpkin.” She looked to her bowl, all that was left was a drop of milk, in it, were crumbs of whole grain cereal. She had swallowed her last spoon of whole grain already. Looking back at him, she decided to do as he said and ate it after saying ‘Bismillah(In the name of Allah’.

Ironically, yes, he had a welcoming smile but behind his green eyes encapsuled in little wrinkles forming was something sinister. He hasn’t tried anything drastic yet but something told her if she’s not careful she could land in the mercy of a mad-man and this one in front of her was just mad enough already.

“You want to play pops?” She asked no one in particular. “Fine, you can be pops and i'll be the daughter…” She saw the excitement in his dilated eyes. “On one condition?” his excitement turned into a frown.

“A condition?” he asked and Eshaal nodded. “I’m listening.”

“Where are the others?”

“Others?”

“Yes, the kids in a shiny red dress. Where are they?”

“Why you would want to know precedes me, honestly.” He sighed in exasperation and then in swift action, he pulled out a cigarette and lighter from his pocket, lighting the butt till it glowed orange in enthusiasm while Eshaal frowned in annoyance as he puffed out an air of smoke, sighed out and with a side eye, he added. “You do realize the reason you are here is cause you decided to play hero...”

The chair screeched cutting him off as Eshaal stood up making her way out the dinning room. “SIT DOWN!” She halted at his commands and slowly turned to him with dead eyes.

or what? She wanted to say. “Are you gonna answer me?”

He stretched his robotic hand pointing over to the chair while the left held the cigar, she rolled her eyes and made her way to sit avoiding his gaze.

“Some are here, some are in Nevada.”

“Where in Nevada?”

“If I tell you, you won’t leave here alive.” The once welcoming expression he wore disappeared into thin air, now his face matched his eyes.
