"I'm here! You two go." Carol says, rushing through the door.
"Liv's already in the car, mum. Thank you so much for coming. I'll update you later." Less tells Carol, tears bubbling in her eyes.
"Come here, lessi." Carol brings her into a hug.
"I'm so scared, mum. Liv's in so much pain. And I'm so scared about little man. What if..."
"She's strong, less. Both of them are. You don't know if it's a miscarriage for definite. Now go, I've got the girls. Keep me updated."
And with that, Alessia ran out the house to car, speeding off to the hospital.

"Fuck, less, I'm scared." I whisper, my head resting on her shoulder as we sit in the room, waiting for a doctor.
"I know, baby. Me too. Whatever happens though—" less begins but is cut off when the doctor knocks on the door before coming in.
"Right. I'm just gonna do a quick scan just to find out exactly what going on. From your symptoms, I have two guesses as to what it might be. Either a placental abruption or a miscarriage." The doctor explains, getting the scan ready.
He places the wand on my bump and the picture of our baby takes over the screen.
Less squeezes my hand as tears threaten to spill from her eyes.
Then, a strong heartbeat fills the room, our baby's heartbeat.
"That's a strong heartbeat." The doctor smiles, relief flowing through my body. "Unfortunately, you've suffered from a placental abruption. You can see here that your placenta has come away from the lining of the uterus. It is a serious matter and we'll have to keep you checked up every week but it doesn't affect you or your baby much. There are possible side effects after the birth but they're very rare. Since your son's heart rate is fine and he's not distressed, you may go home. I suggest bed rest for the next week. No major movement, and I know it's difficult but no football for the rest of the pregnancy. You may continue physio sessions but no running, no passing, et cetera. I'll be back with some release papers and then you'll be free to go."
Me and less thank him before we both burst out crying.
Our baby's okay
