Fusion answered while leaning at his back.

"And how can we trust you?"

Beatrice continued to question Fusion.

"I haven't betrayed Subaru yet have I? I lended him quite a bit of help by now. He should know."

Subaru stayed silent. Part of him trusted his dark benefactor. While the other side of him was sure as hell he would betray him on the spot if he felt like it.

"That is true. You gave me your power. Ascended me into a favorable position. But I still don't know your motive."

Subaru told Fusion sternly.

"Fair point. Let's just say, I was commissioned by some powerful entity to alter your fate as I seemed fit." Fusion explained.

Subaru just stared blankly.

"I don't feel like he is lying. His power seems out of this world too. I can feel it." Beatrice told Subaru as she stared deep into Fusion's soul.

"I understand, It all seems ethereal to you. But this is the most I can relay."

As they were going to continue their conversation, the door knocked.

"May I come in? Subaru-sama?"

It was Rem.

Fusion dissipated into shadows.

"Come in." Subaru answered.

Rem came in and bowed to Subaru.

"A royal invitation just came in, Calling Emilia-sama to royal selection." Rem told Subaru as she held a letter in her hands.

"Hm, I see. Is Emilia aware that she has been summoned?"

Subaru asked.

"No, Big sister thought it would be fit for you to know it first."

So the pink oni had come around?

Fusion thought.

"Well done. I will relay it to her. Thank you Rem." Subaru said.

Rem bowed at him before leaving.

"And also..."

Subaru said to the leaving Rem.

"I am sorry for your loss." Subaru said apologetically.

Rem bowed again. Then she closed the door behind her.

Fusion reappeared behind Subaru. Looking at the half ruined village.

"Want me to handle the repairs? After all..." Fusion trailed off.

"That would do." Subaru said without emotion.

"Go to your liege, take her to the selection." Fusion said without looking back.

"What will you do at that time?" Subaru asked.

"Let's say... some groundwork." Fusion said with a smirk.

A door has been knocked two times.

"Come in." Emilia said with a gentle voice.

It was Subaru.

"My lady." Subaru bowed.

"Oh, It's you." Emilia recognized.

Puck was dead silent watching Subaru.

"Is it cold here or is it just me?" Subaru joked by rubbing his shoulders. But It was only Emilia that laughed.

"Puck, I understand you have your reservations with me bu-"

"You are behind this."

Subaru tried to reconcile with the puck but cut short.

"Do you have any proof?" Subaru said with a slight frustrated tone.

"It just serves you right. You knew Emilia would leave things to you. And the way you forced Roswall to make you her knight. It seems crystal clear that you are just after power." Puck said as he frowned at Subaru.

"Then what are you going to do about it?" Subaru asked with a Malevolent tone.

"I am not going to leave Em to you!"

Puck channeled a spell as they were talking and was ready to unleash it.

But before he could do that, three dark dots that shaped an upside down triangle appeared around him.

"Huh? What is happen..." Puck said as he got sleepy.

"P-Puck? Are you okay?" Emilia asked concerningly.

"I...am..." But before he could finish he fell into a deep slumber.

"Puck? Puck?!" Emilia was freaking out.

"Subaru? Did you do this?!" Emilia questioned frantickly.

I must play it along

Subaru thought.

"I only put him to sleep. He should wake up tomorrow."

"Oh..." Emilia stared into the sleeping Puck.

"Now. The pressing matter..." Subaru relayed the news of the Royal invitation to Emilia. Ultimately making her agree to go with him.

As Subaru got out of Emilia's room, Fusion was leaning to the wall near the door.

"Was that you?" Subaru asked without conveying emotions.

"Yup. My spirit killer." Fusion answered with a smirk.

"Y-You killed h-"

But Before Subaru could raise his voice Fusion closed his mouth with his hand.

"Shush. I didn't kill him."

Fusion retracted his hand.

"Then what is your spirit killer?" Subaru asked, confused.

"It normally kills spirits. But I tried to tone it down so it wouldn't lethally hurt him."

"Oh. If he died, it would be hella trouble to get Emilia to stay." Subaru said with a relieved tone.

"Oh, shouldn't we be talking about this in other places rather than right in front of their door?" Subaru asked.

"Don't worry. I already excluded us from the material plane."

Fusion answered laid back.

"You can do that?!" Subaru asked, surprised.

"I did it before. You forgot?" Fusion turned to Subaru. Urging him to recall.

Subaru recalled the moment where he gifted "The judgment" to him.

"Oh. It all makes sense now." Subaru said.

"You should prepare. Tomorrow might be a tense day." With that Fusion dissipated into shadows.

"How is he doing that?" Subaru said as he scratched his head.

Chapter 7! It's a bit shorter. But the next episode will cover important events so I felt like it would be appropriate to end it here. Anyways,enjoy.
