Beatrice told the group as she kept focusing on the shield.

"Don't worry, Betty! I will support your mana pool." Puck reassured.

As they begin to make their way inside the mansion, a loud shout was heard

"Die you cowards!!" With a display of a shade's head getting pierced by a mace.

Its head dissipated into the air.

It was the oni sisters fighting and prevailing against the shadows.

But Subaru could feel while the rest of the group was oblivious to something.

Shadows were holding back.

What is going on? How can I tell they are deliberately letting them win?

And with a motion, shades began to fall back. It was such a masterful deceit that it seemed natural.

"They are retracting! We won!" Emilia cheered.

"It seems that way. But something is not right... oh! Where is Roswall?"

Puck asked.

"Wasn't he with you? We lost his sight and assumed he had joined you." Ram questioned.

"We only saw him as the wyrm was about to fall. But since then..."

Emilia trailed down.

"He must have chased the shadows off. Yeah, that's what happened." Ram told herself.

"We should find him, regardless." Subaru said as he scouted.

As the group was searching for the master of the mansion, Subaru felt a strange resonance.

Is something calling to me? No. It's too weak of a pulse.

Subaru detached from the search and followed the strange pulse in his mind.

He came across a familiar figure.

Subaru immediately recognized him.

"Was all of this your doing?" Subaru questioned behind his back.

Man was sitting on a few square rocks watching the village from a height.

"Hm? What? How did you..? Oh, we are becoming alike aren't we? That's how you must have found me?" Man spoke to himself, seemed thoughtful.

As Subaru took a look at him from his front, he noticed he was in a rough shape. Terribly wounded and his armor was almost completely shattered.

"Excuse my poor look. I have been in a... rough situation. Why don't you come sit? Bet you have things to ask."

Man patted the stone near him.

Subaru sat without question.

"First, introductions yeah? I am Fusion, shadow sovereign. My origins might come off as little confusing to you so I will pass that part."

Subaru nodded ever so slightly.

"I suppose you already know me? Considering you have been showing up occasionally." Subaru pointed out.

"Of course. Natsuki Subaru."

Fusion answered matter of factly.

"And to answer your question before, yes. This was a distraction for me to take care of the Clown."

Fusion blurted out.

Subaru froze for a moment before continuing.

"Is Roswall dead?"
