"What is wrong? I suppose. I felt your frustration thorough our bond."

Subaru jumped from his bed frantically.

"It is urgent. Listen to me. The mansion is gonna get attacked after the ceremony."

Beatrice looked at Subaru with a look of confusion.

"How can you be sure?"

"Because I have been there! I die-"

Darkness encroached. A shadowy figure. White haired... Closed in Subaru. Just as she was about to reach, an invisible blade swung. Cutting her shadowy arms. An eerie screeching came off. And then, Subaru was back.

"Did you just say... that you had died?"

Beatrice asked, confused.

"Yessss. It is part of my ability. Everytime I die, I turn back in time, an infinite trial and error ability to simplify."

Beatrice was dumbfounded. "Are you lying to me?"

Subaru shook his head

"No. I am your contractor. you should be able to tell when I lie to you."

That was true. They had a close bond.

Beatrice, sit at the bed. In deep thought.

"You said there was an attack?"

The ceremony was interrupted as usual. The gifted sword came as The Judgment. Unlike before. Beatrice and Subaru exchanged looks. As everyone was rushing to Mansion's defence, this time Subaru and Beatrice went together. Leaving Emilia behind.

They were slaughtering Mabeasts like going on a stroll.

"H-How can you fight like that?!"

Beatrice commented on Subaru's fighting style as he just stabbed a Mabeast through the skull.

"What about it?" He asked, confused.

"You go in like they are always going to miss you. It's like watching a play. Where everything is meant to be the way they happen."

"Quite perceptive, I must admit. Guess it's a part of my ability. but it wasn't always like this."

Subaru admitted, slicing a Mabeast through the waist.

"What do you mea-?"

She got interrupted. A blade was thrown at her which got cut in half by Subaru's Judgment.

"There they are. The shades I talked about."

Subaru said as he took a stance.

"But you also said your abilities stopped working against them too!"

Subaru chukled

"That's why I brought you to help."

Beatrice floated. Spells ready.

"I will protect you as long as it takes, indeed!"

A shade jumped at Subaru. But this time, he was expecting it. He quickly deflected and counter attacked. Slicing the shade in half. But more was coming.

"Begone! Shadows!"

Beatrice cast a powerful yang spell. Dispersing shadows.

It surprisingly was hurting Subaru too.

It burns!

Beatrice took notice of that. As shadows were circling them a familiar face took form.

"Ara Ara, look how much you have changed in such a short notice!"

It was Elsa. She was looking so elegant that no one would think that she meant to fight.

"Elsa! But, I killed you!" Subaru shouted.

"Yes, you did! But what you slayed was merely my mortal form. Now I carry a stronger vessel."

Elsa smiled.

"It doesn't matter, I will kill you all the same!"

Elsa laughed.

"Unfortunately, you are not our target."

Elsa disappeared into the rushing shades. Becoming untraceable.

"Dammit where did she go?!" Subaru was furiously looking around.

"They are going to the mansion!" Beatrice shouted.

"No No NO!" Subaru sprinted to the mansion in the chase of shades.

"Wait!" Beatrice called out, but Subaru didn't want to hear.

Chapter 5! Little bit shorter this time. I feel like im speedruning things a bit. The plot gets less and less clearer. I might just try to find an exit at some point... Anyways, hope you enjoy.
