Fusion disappeared. Subaru made no attempts to stop him from doing what he wanted. He knew it would be futile.

And the darkness recided.

Emilia and Beatrice were looking at him,confused. Along with puck.

"Is everything alright? Subaru?" Emilia asked concerningly.

"Yeah, let's move on."

He composed himself quickly before opening the mansion gates...

It was a scene. Hordes of mutated mabeasts was circling the village and 2 flying wyrms were bombarding the mansion.

Roswall is currently fighting against one of them with ram by his side while the other one is continuing on its rampage.

"Emilia-sama, Beatrice! Handle the other wyrm while I take care of these mabeasts." Subaru ordered as he went his way to the village.

"Subaru wai-!" But before Emilia could finish it Subaru was shifted into the shadows.

Subaru was slicing one beast after one. His new sword was better than he could have imagined.

"YES!! COME!! DIE!!"

Before he realized, he was shouting and grinning.

A mabeast stroke from a blind spot at Subaru.

"Again."

Time rewinded. Subaru sliced its head with no effort.

He could see the wyrm falling from the distance.

Roswall must have succeeded.

But... There was a shift in the woods.

Something...no. Some things were coming.

Before Subaru could understand what was going on a shade jumped at him. He tried to sidestep or turn into a shadow but for some reason he couldn't pull it off.

The shade's blade cut him through.

"AGH!!"

Shit! I forgot to rewind!

"I'm not done!" Subaru swung judgment but it didn't hit its target.

Darkness was approaching.

There were numerous shades now. They were charging towards the village, killing everything in their paths.

The shade that wounded Subaru was staring him in the eye. It was hard to determine if it was actually looking at Subaru or was it just looking at his way.

"I will come back..." With that Subaru snapped his own neck in a flash.

World went Dark.

Subaru opened his eyes with a wide breath.

It was the morning of his ceremony.

What was that? That shade was too powerful...

He tried to recall his last moments, how his power failed him.

You can't defeat everything with a brute force child.

Fusion thought as he watched frustrated Subaru going around in the room.

The door was knocked.

Hmm? That didn't happened before

"Enter."

It was beatrice.

"Oh, it was you. Im glad."

Subaru let out a relieved breath.
