Arcane: World Two - AU (Non-binary reader)

X - A Second Chance

You feel the wind in your hair as you run through Zaun. The world can not stop you now that you're free. You keep running until you reach the elevator to the Lanes. You pull the lever and begin your descent, you look at the Lanes as though they're their heaven. The smell of oil fills your nose as the elevator stops. You climb a building and run across the rooftops, you can see the Last Drop, you've not been this close in over a year. You keep running, jumping, sliding and rolling until you stand in front of it, the glow of the sign illuminates your face as you slowly open the door. It's early morning, the room is empty. You turn on the lights and pull up a chair, you steal Vander's pipe and pour a drink as you play a song on the jukebox.

Vander is woken up by the sound of a song playing downstairs. He stands up and slowly goes to the main room. He sees you, but doesn't recognise you yet: "Go on, get outta here"

You slowly tilt your head, pipe in your mouth: "Can't I just listen to the song" The sight of your eye causes his mind to not make the connection for a moment. But when he realises it's you, his jaw slams onto the ground.

"y/n? You-your here?" He says with tears falling from his eyes,

You take a sip of your drink before answering: "In the lack of flesh"

He runs to you, taking you into his arms. It's only now that he realises the insane transformations of your body. You're huge now, almost as tall as he is. 

A tired Mylo comes out: "What all that noise?" He rubs his eyes, allowing him to see you in all your glory. Claggor follows shortly and does the same. They run to you and also hold onto you. 

You look at Mylo: "Sorry about locking you in a room"

Claggor doesn't even register your words, he's too starstruck by the fact you're back: "You're back!!"

"Where's Powder?" You ask, "She has something that belongs to me" Vander takes your hand and leads you to Powder and Vi's shared room. You knock on the door and wait for someone to open it but no one does.

"They haven't been dealing with your absence very well" Mylo states

You open the door gently, and the light from the door shines on Vi's face. She slowly wakes up and sees you. She doesn't recognise you for a moment but you see it on her face when it clicks. She slowly stands up and walks to you, she gently puts her hands on your face: "Is it... is it really you?" You nod "I- I'm so sorry"

You quickly embrace her in a hug, something the old you never would've done. She sobs into your shoulder. During all this, Powder begins to wake up, she only sees the side of your face without the deformity and immediately recognises you. She bolts to you and almost climbs you: "I thought you... I thought you were dead"

You reply in a moderate tone: "Becoming a theme"

Off the edge of a train track is a team of enforcers investigating the train crash you'd survived. They're pulling corpses from it to send to their families. They eventually find Kara's body. She's placed in a coffin and sent to her family in Piltover

Later that day, Ekko and Benzo are both at the Last Drop for a drink. Neither of them knows you're alive and so Ekko is still clutching onto your jacket. He's sitting in a chair facing the bar, his head tilted downward. You stand in front of him: "For what it's worth, it never looked that good on me"

Ekko thinks he's seeing a ghost, he looks up at you in awe: "y/n? It can't be"

"Don't bet on that" you reply smoothly
