Ruby (TFP)

Chapter 5

Optimus nodded in agreement as Ruby lifted her back, right paw out of the nest and placed it onto the ground. She whimpered a little and lifted her right back paw to lick it and shake it. Optimus was smiling as she was very adorable as she slowly left her bed. He had not considered that she would feel the cold on the floor, but that was okay. He wanted her to get used to it since she would be getting up this way since he expected her to gain some independence for small things like this. He understood why she disliked the cold on her paws, but it was better she learned early that she shouldn’t expect him to cater to her for small things like this.

She finally got her back, left paw out and she grumbled as she looked up at Optimus. She saw Optimus was smiling and knew immediately that he was happy with what she had done. That made Ruby smile and she wagged her tail a little. “Good job, Ruby. I’m sorry that the floor is cold, but...” Optimus paused for a moment as Ruby walked away from the nest and looked around while sniffing at the ground. Optimus glanced at Fowler. “I don’t suppose that’s a sign she needs to use the bathroom?” Fowler nodded and Optimus quickly grabbed Ruby from the ground, making her yelp in surprise and she looked up at him with a slight frown, as she thought he wouldn’t pick her up. “It’s okay, Ruby. I know you may not yet understand, but I hope you will quickly.”

Ruby grumbled and chirped lightly, looking around as she watched Optimus walk away from her bed to the far right side of the lobby. She whimpered lightly as she wanted to get down due to needing to go  but she soon felt Optimus lowering her down. She looked down and she frowned a little as she saw a strange item below. It had a bowl with water with a square object behind it. She had no idea what a toilet was, but as Optimus lowered her to it, she was curious about it. Especially as he sat her on it, and gently moved her back legs to either side of the bowl and held her tail.

Ruby whined and looked up at Optimus was a confused expression. Optimus was smiling at her and she was confused. She didn’t know what he wanted her to do. But it would be made very clear quickly as she grimaced and her ears twitch as she heard the sound of water dripping beneath her and she glanced down as she knew she was relieving herself. She looked at Optimus and saw he was relieved, and she widened her eyes when she realized this was good. She hummed a little before grimacing briefly before the light splashes of water can be heard.

Optimus was still not used to this, but it was way cleaner than before. He did see in Ruby’s eyes that she seemed to understand that this was good. He hoped she will eventually walk over here on her own. They would need to build a bigger toilet for her since she will get much bigger than a human, but this will do for the time being. Now that she was done, Optimus lifted her slightly to check underneath her before pushing the top button to flush the toilet. Ruby yelped in surprise, but she had watched Optimus press the button and saw what it did. Ruby murmured lightly as she wasn’t sure if this was something she had to do, but she would find out soon enough.

Optimus moved Ruby to the side to a tap, making Ruby whimper as she knew that cold water would come out of it. Optimus looked at the tap as it was too small for him to turn and turned his head to Fowler. “Could you turn the tap on for me, Fowler? Until we have facets large enough that I can use...”

“I know, Prime. I got it. Arcee is helping Ratchet, Bulkhead and Bumblebee right now, so I’m the next person in line.” Fowler walked over quickly to the tap and turned it on. And he waited a moment before touching the water. “And it is warm. A good thing we got that going.”

Optimus nodded in agreement as he rolled the dragon onto her back as the little dragon squirmed and whimpered in protest. She placed her front paws on Optimus’s thumb to try and push it off her, but she was unable to. She whimpered and nipped lightly at his thumb, though her gums wouldn’t hurt anything at all. When Optimus gently lowered the dragon under the water though, Ruby stopped in surprise upon feeling the warmth of the water upon her abdomen. She looked down at the water curiously as Optimus cleaned her and she began to bat at the water with her front, right paw. She murmured a little before she smiled suddenly and wagged her as she tried to roll out of Optimus’s hand.
