Chapter 26: Goodnight 

Hindi na nasundan ang pag-uusap namin ni Uno pagkatapos noong araw na nagkaroon siya ng emergency.

More than two weeks have passed, and I haven't heard from him since then. His secretary has been the one attending all our meetings in his place. 

"I heard from Theron that Uno got busy with his company after his son was discharged from the hospital." I suddenly froze at what I was doing because of what Kelsey said.

"S-son?" I stammered in disbelief, feeling blank for a few moments.

Kelsey nodded, looking surprised as well. Theron is Uno's secretary, and he often talks with Kelsey, especially when it comes to charity, so they've become close. 

"Nagulat din ako noong narinig ko 'yon sa kanya. I can't believe he's already a dad..." She carefully weighed her words as she looked at me. 

I couldn't bring myself to speak; all I could do was keep my mouth shut because I didn't want to say something I might regret later.

Well... it's been years, and it wouldn't be surprising if he had a family by now. After all, we've been apart for so long, and I once wished that he would find someone who would love him wholeheartedly.

Pero bakit, ngayon na nakahanap na siya ng iba, hindi ko magawang maging masaya? Why does it hurt to know that he already loves someone else when it's what I wanted for him all along?

Gulong-gulo na ako sa sarili ko at hindi ko alam kung tama pa ba itong nararamdaman ko. Nagkibit-balikat na lamang ako at ipinagpatuloy ang ginagawa kong lessons para sa mga estudyante ko.

Ramdam ko ang mariing titig ni Kelsey sa akin ngunit hindi na niya magawang magtanong pa. Even though my mind was a mess and I felt bothered, I still managed to finish my work.

"I can't believe that my architect crush is already a dad, my god!" Antonia exclaimed as she entered our office at school. 

She slammed her books onto her desk before lazily sinking into her swivel chair. Our desks were near each other, so I could easily see the picture on her phone. 

She's a die-hard fan of Uno, so she follows all the fan pages created for him, even though Uno doesn't have any social media accounts.

I looked closely at the photo. It was Uno carrying a young boy as they left the hospital. The child seemed about three years old. I didn't know why, but a tightness suddenly filled my chest as I stared at their photo. 

I could see the fatherly side of Uno; hindi ko makita ang mukha ng bata dahil nakasandal iyon sa balikat ni Uno at mukhang natutulog.

"Whoever the mother of his child is, she's so lucky! Like, girl... who wouldn't want to get pregnant by him? He's a career man, a bachelor, and an architect! Saan ka pa!" Antonia swooned while staring at the picture of Uno with his child.
