Confused and slightly scared, Mina stood there frozen with shock.
Her mind racing with a billion controversial thoughts.
Why is he here? I never thought I'd see him again! This is terrible, what do I do?
It wasn't until Jake pulled away from the hug and looked at his former best friend, did the thoughts stop.
"You know Ms. Yang, Mr. Sim?" Mr. Baek asked, watching the two confused along with the rest of the small crowd.
"We were friends in high school," Mina responded.
"Until I had to move away." Jake finished slightly pouting. "But this is great, you're here! I never thought I'd see you again." He beamed.
"Me neither...," she muttered, a slight sorrow in her voice that he failed to notice.
"Well, then it looks like you'll have someone to help and be your guide when I'm not around." Mr. Baek concluded, placing his hand on Jake's shoulder.

Later, after the work day had finally concluded, Jake searched for Mina. As soon as he found her, he asked to exchange numbers and get some coffee.
Now she found herself sitting in a cafe, watching nervously as Jake goes to retrieve their drinks.
Once he sat down, he began eagerly asking questions.
"I've been waiting to ask you all day." He exclaimed, smiling brightly.
"Yeah me too." She lied but smiled anyway.
"So how have you been? Anything new? I've really missed you." He stated.
"I've been good," she smiled slightly, "I have a roommate, her name is Yunjin and she's amazing. I met her in my first year of college." She responded.
"Wow, she sounds great! Can't wait to meet her." He said excitedly.
"What about you? How have you been?" She asked.
"I got a dog, her name's Layla, and I absolutely love her." he took out his phone to show her a picture of Layla sleeping.
"Oh, she's adorable!" The girl exclaimed, her face immediately lighting up.
"Yeah. I also made some friends, six of them to be exact. They're like family to me, you have to meet them." He smiled, pulling up another photo of the seven of them on his phone. "We can go over names later."
Mina simply nodded and took a long sip of her drink.
"I never knew you wanted to be a meteorologist!"
"Oh yeah um, after you... left they added a weather segment to the school news, I was in charge of that segment and I really enjoyed it." She explained nervously.
"No way!" He exclaimed, his accent clear. Causing a sharp pain in her chest. "I heard this company uses physics to make calculations sometimes and it really interested me." He explained.
They then fell into a slightly awkward silence. Mina internally questioning everything, and Jake is just happy to have his friend back.
+++++++
Exhausted from the day and interaction she just had, Mina wanted nothing more than to lay in her bed and relax.
After walking through her front door and removing her shoes, she was greeted by her roommate.
"Hey, so how was your first day?" Yunjin asked, eagerly awaiting her answer.
"Do you remember when I told you about my high school crush who had to move?" She asked sighing.
"You mean the jerk who left you and broke your heart? Yea, why?" She stated.
Staying silent, all Mina did was give her friend a look as she put her things down, causing her to gasp.
"No! You're kidding!" She burst out.
"He was there! Out of any person it could have been in the world it was him!" The girl exclaimed, running her hand through her hair to try to calm herself.
"What are you going to do?" Her friend asked worrying.
"Well I can't quit, I just started," she sighed, considering and running her options through her head, "I think the best thing would be to keep my distance."
"Alright, but if he does anything I'm coming for his ass," Yunjin remarked, punching her fist into her open hand.
"Thank you Yunjin." Mina giggled and hugged her friend, moved by her friend's gesture.
"No problem girlie." She hugged back.
+++++++
Walking through the door and taking off his shoes, Jake was met by Layla eagerly wagging her tail.
He stooped down to pet her and ask about her day. Continuing to somewhat entertain her, he made his way to the kitchen to grab something for himself and Layla.
Watching her eat excitedly, he stooped down again and petted her again.
"Guess what Layla, she was there after all these years." He quietly exclaimed, causing her to turn up at him with a happy but confused expression, "You're gonna love her, the way I do." He smiled, not thinking much of what he just said.
