"I hope you're pleased with yourself, Avery," Mattheo said bitterly as she passed him. She stopped and turned to look at him.

"You hope I'm pleased with myself? I hope you're pleased with yourself. Why the fuck did you send Snape to check on me like I'm some desolate little girl?" Seraphina snapped back at him. Theo, Enzo, and Pansy looked at each other confused, Mattheo clearly hadn't filled them in on what he had done nor did they have any real idea what the two of them were upset about in the first place.

Mattheo just scoffed rolling his eyes "Oh please, Avery. We all know you would have made a big deal out of it eventually. I was just trying to speed up the process." He retorted, glaring at her.

"No, I wouldn't have Riddle. I hadn't planned on saying anything. It wasn't your business to get involved in." She said angrily.

Mattheo walked toward where she was standing "It was my business." He told her coldly standing over her, they were nose to nose at this point. Mattheo could feel himself starting to lose control, but he was so mad at Seraphina that he almost didn't even care and wanted to lose control.

"No, it fucking wasn't. You should have just left it alone. Now I've got McGonagall and Snape keeping an eye on me. All because of what? I got detention for defending you of all people." Seraphina said poking him in the chest.

Mattheo snapped and slammed her into the wall behind her, she let out a gasp as her back hit the wall, knocking the wind out of her. She wasn't expecting Mattheo to even touch her and stared up at him with wide eyes, "You shouldn't be defending me in the fucking first place, Avery." He said tightening the grip on her arm.

"Mattheo, let her go," Theo said walking over to them and grabbing his shoulder but Mattheo shrugged him off as he started daggers straight into Seraphina's soul.

"I don't need you looking out for me, Avery do you understand? Do you know how fucking stupid you are for that?" He yelled at her, still not relishing his grip as he held her against the wall.

"I fucking got it, Riddle. The only stupid thing was me ever thinking we were friends. Don't worry I won't make that mistake again." She yelled back at him.

"Now it's my fucking fault that you have that carved into your hand. Now you're just going to fucking hold that over my head." He sneered and Seraphina struggled against his grip. She searched his eyes for any sort of regret but there was nothing. He believed that she was going to hold what Umbridge did over his head and she couldn't figure out what she had ever done to make him think she would do that to him.

Theo and Enzo finally got him pulled back away from Seraphina before she could even say anything. Seraphina held her arm in her hand as she looked at him but his face was unreadable as he looked from her arm back to her face as the reality of what just happened settled between them.

"Do you really think that low of me, Riddle?" Seraphina said, her voice was barely above a whisper but Mattheo heard her loud and clear. She had a defeated look on her face as she stared back at him. He couldn't bear to look at her any longer and looked toward the other side of the corridor to make sure no one else had seen what had just happened.

Mattheo didn't answer, but the look on his face was no longer one of anger. It was almost sad as the guilt began to overwhelm him. Mattheo just pulled himself out of Theo and Enzo's grasp and went walking down the hall and out of the corridor, afraid of what would come out of his mouth next if he stayed.

Theo looked from Mattheo to Serapina like he was caught between two different worlds. He was still stunned as everything had happened so fast. He looked over at Pansy who was in complete shock, staring at Seraphina's arm.

"I'll take Mattheo. You stay with Sera." Enzo said stepping in at Theo's indecisiveness. He went bolting out of the corridor to try and catch up with Mattheo who had already put a staircase between them all and was heading for the grounds.

Theo looked over at him and nodded before cautiously walking over to Seraphina. "Are you okay, Fiore mio?" He asked her softly.

Seraphina watched Mattheo go practically sprinting down the hall, she looked down at her hand and pulled her sleeves up to make sure there wasn't any bruising from how hard Mattheo was gripping her arm. Theo reached down and delicately examined her arm and hand, pausing to look at the inscription and he realized that was what Mattheo was so furious about, it all clicked into place with him.

"Umbridge did that?" Theo asked her trying to keep his voice level but now he had a pit of rage forming in his stomach just like Mattheo had a few moments ago.

"I'm fine." She said firmly, ignoring his second question but Theo didn't need to know the answer. He already knew.
