Sectoral Heterochromea

Maya sat at the lunch table alone with her small lunch box that she began to unpack before she heard a familiar slightly French voice calling her name. The blonde looked around for the tall tan girl she had met in biology earlier that day, when she saw her she stood up and waved her over. Maya being a little too eager to finally sit with someone, she dropped her glasses onto the floor. Damnit I can't see without them. She said before getting down on her hands and knees patting the floor under her before finally finding them. Ahah! But she felt a foot step on her hand.

"Damnit! Ouch!" She said trying to pull her hand away but he's hand was trapped between the foot and her glasses, she knew at this point that the stranger stepping on her hand was doing on purpose. She felt more pressure on her hand, she felt like crying but she wouldn't give them the satisfaction of knowing he hurt her. Shortly and quickly she felt the pressure increase and felt her glasses break and glass break into her skin. Shit that fucking hurts! She thought as she grit her teeth in pain, as Riley's heel clicks got closer the stranger helped Maya up and walked away. Did my fingers break? She asked herself and sat back down putting on her now broken and bloody glasses, at least she could see out of one lense. The blonde pulled out the set of tweasers she kept in her lunch bag, unaware that Riley had already sat down. Maya began to pick out the pieces of glass in her hand.

"Who the fuck did that too you?" Riley asked grabbing Maya's hurt hand carefully and looked up at the broken glasses.

"I-I-I-I d-di-didn't-t-t se-see h-h-h-his fa-face." Maya said honestly looking at Riley who took her tweasers and began taking out the glass in her hand. The blonde bit her lip as she thought hard about her lab partner's eyes trying to figure them out. "Y-y-you-your eyes ar-re ab-ss-solu-solutely gor-ge-geous." Maya said not paying attention to the pain and numbness in her hand. Her good hand pushed her glasses up so she could see somewhat better even though one lense was complete shit now and absolutely bloody. "I-I-I-I do-don-don't me-mean t-t-t-to sss..." She said taking a breath in to calm herself down. "Sound creepy." She finally finished, surprised Riley sat through the whole mess. When Maya was done Riley shook her head and smiled, focused on removing every bit of glass from the pale hand in hers.

"You don't sound creepy. At all." Riley said in her charming and -slightly- French accent. "Its cute really, your eyes lit up just then. Do you like people's eyes?" She asked and looked up at Maya who looked like a mess, and slightly like a serial killer.

"I like hu-human an-natomy i-i-in general." Maya said and looked down at her hand blushing softly. "N-n-n-not li-like ev-everyone s-s-says I d-do though." She added. The blonde used her good hand to eat knowing she wouldn't have a chance to eat in her next class.

"I don't care what everyone says about you." Riley said honestly and finished taking out the glass in Maya's hand. "I care what you say about you." She said and bit her lap as she scooped all the glass bits up and threw them away in the nearest trash bin. "You should really clean your hand." The brunette said and looked at the blood on her own hands. "Looks like I need to clean my hands to." She said laughing.

"As I wa-as sss-saying, y-yo-your co-compl-plete a-and sec-sect-toral het-hetero-heterochromea a-are a d-d-do-double rec-cess-sive tr-trait." Maya said leading Riley to the bathroom.

"Ohh yeah?" She asked and turned to the blonde with a big smile on her face. "Tell me more." Riley said with a huge smile, she wanted to hear all that the blonde could tell her.

"I-I-I-It's a-an odd-dity. S-s-some tr-tribes l-l-l-ong ago u-used to th-think o-of th-th-those pe-pe-people a-as g-g-g-gods o-on earth." Maya said really excited that someone actually wanted to listen to her. "U-uh an-nd e-eve-even i-if s-so-someone ha-has the d-d-doubl-double negi-i-itive trait, i-i-i-it do-doesn't a-a-always show up." Maya added and walked into the bathroom to wash her hands, Riley nodded and used the sink next to her.

"Sounds interesting. Never heard that before." Riley said and continued to listen to Maya the whole lunch period about other human oddities and anomalies. Riley was genuinely interested in what Maya had to say, she didn't care what others would think of her. Maya was such an interesting person to listen to, she knew so much, and Riley could tell she wanted to share it with the world but the world refused to listen to her. But she would listen as long as Maya would talk, patiently waiting for her to finish, understanding it could take a while to do so. She didn't care, she made a friend with Maya and she intended to keep it that way.
