When it all started

TW:slight mentions of gore!⚠️⚠️

Jacklyn was sitting on the sofa plopped in front of her television when the door suddenly bursts open to reveal Bella standing at the door panting, clearly out of breath

"What's going on?" Jacklyn said a confused tone in her voice

"There's no time to explain, Jackie pass me the remote" she replied quickly "have you seen the news?"

"No I don't really watch it, you know the news makes me bored wh-" she replies but is quickly cut off by the sound of sirens wailing and people screaming on the Tv as Bella changes the channel

"They don't know what's going on but people are waddling around eating other people but when the police try to shoot the down they won't go down like they're immune or something" She quickly says before Jacklyn can finish her sentence "now I know it might sound crazy and really stupid but hear me out.."

"I'm listening"

"They might be.." she takes a deep breath "zombies"

"Zombies? Really?" She furrows her brow slightly

"I know what you might be thinking but it's all the things! Eating human flesh, surviving multiple bullet gun shots without at least falling to the ground or even flinching, sounds pretty zombie-ish to me" she says trying to defend her idea

"Well I guess you're right but how will we know for sure-" she suddenly gets cut off by a scream that rings out through the apartment complex

"What was that?" Bella says with a slightly panicked expression

"I don't know should we look?" Jacklyn replied

"Jackie that's a dumb idea what if we get hurt"

"Relax, I meant just looking out the window"

Bella signs but finally agrees, they creep over to the window looking down at where the scream had directed from to see a woman lying on the floor, blood pouring out from her neck as a figure kneels over her it lifts its head up abt the two girls to reveal a gaping hole in the woman's stomach and blood smeared over its mouth and hands

Jacklyn backs away from the window raising a finger at it and squeals "what THE ACTUAL FU-"

"Keep your voice down. If that thing is a zombie they should be attracted to noise or something we have to keep quiet or we might end up like that woman"

"How would you know that Bella?"

"I love watching zombie shows what can I say-"

Just then there's a banging at the door the two girls look at each other a moment passes  and the banging gets faster and louder Jacklyn walks up to the door to see if she could peak through the peep hole, she steps on a wrongly fitted floorboard causing it to creak but then, the room goes silent the banging stops but the sound of growling and grunting is heard followed my a man's shout and cry for help

Jacklyn steps back from the door not sure of what's happening on the other side not really wanting to know either she feels a pang of sadness wash over her she felt like she could've helped that man but she was too slow, too scared, her eyes begin to gloss over but she couldn't cry not now not in front of Bella she could only be happy

She takes a deep breath and turns around to Bella

"We need to leave.. now it's not safe" Bella says with a hint of urgency in her voice
