I narrow my eyes at his smirk and put my hands on my hips "Interesting my ass. Look since you obviously don't know how to kill me, can't you kindly get the fuck out of my apartment?!" I say with malice dripping from my voice. The angel, Gabriel's eyebrows go up in surprise while Carter, death, whistles long and low "Damn, well aren't you brave? Cussing at an angel? Shame on you kid." His little nickname makes me seethe and I growl out "I am not a kid' I gesture at my body 'what part of me is of a kid?"
Just as I feel their eyes trail up and down my body, the doorbell rings. I immediately start heading toward the door to answer it when Carter stretches his arm out, blocking my way. "What?" I whisper, angrily as I glance at his muscular arm. He gently pushes me back and I softly fall onto the couch. As I open my mouth, I hear Gabriel say in a calm and collected voice "Carter, let her up." I glance back to see him in my kitchen, making himself coffee. "I can't. I won't. She needs to die so I'm not letting her out of my sight until she's dead and out of my list so I can go on with my job. I got places to be and people to kill." Carter says in frustration. He paces back and forth, faster and faster as my doorbell keeps ringing. "Melissa, are you there?" I hear through the door. Shit, it's Damien. I shoot up in my seat and face Carter. "Let me send him away. I promise not go anywhere with him, please?" Carter stubbornly shakes his head no and the doorbell rings more and more. "Look he won't go away until he sees me. I know him. Please?" I turn to Gabriel as I say please. He looks at me with a serious expression and sighs "just let her. Ill change his mind if he doesn't want to leave." Carter sighs, in acceptance and disappears. I look at Gabriel for an answer "oh, we won't be gone, honey. Just not visible. Now go to your boy toy. I'm sure he does find your ass interesting" and is gone before I can blink. I growl "I'm not your honey." Somewhere I hear carter's voice "that's for sure. You're more like a lemon. Just sour." As I open my mouth to retort, I hear "just open the door". Gabriel. I turn and head for the door.
