Marlene was walking back from school along with Sapphire, Frank, and Liam. The four had taken the long way home, stopping in town to buy chips.
"Shut up!" Marlene laughed, throwing a chip towards liam, successfully hitting him in the head.
Liam glared. "Oi!" He yelled, throwing a chip back but missing. This only caused Marlene to laugh more.
"Well, you falling up the stairs in front of everyone was funny." Frank finally spoke, agreeing with Liam. Sapphire nodded her head.
Marlene turned to look at them. "Do you want a chip thrown at you as well?" She asked, raising her eyebrow.
The memory was humiliating. Whilst walking to her next class with Frank, whose classroom was next to hers, she had tripped on her shoe lace, causing her to fall in front of quite a large number of people.
Thinking of it, Marlene too began to laugh. It was so stupid. Her laugher quickly caught in her throat, her smile dropped and she froze as she looked infront of her.
The other three followed her eyesight towards a man that none of them recognized. He looked worn out and tired, a beard that had not been shaved in a long time covered a lot of his face. In his hand was a blue bag, inside it was not hard to tell there were a number of beer bottles.
