"Which isn't funny, actually." Gus told her.

"Didn't you even know that?" Sapphire asked, walking past Tracy.

Marlene stood up. "Nah, she just assumes because her mum didn't want her, no one else's does." She scoffed, walking closer to Tracy. "Did you ever stop for one minute to think why Toby feels like he's cursed with such bad luck?" Marlene shook her head. "Do you think he'd feel that deeply about a breakfast gone wrong?"

"I didn't..." Tracy began but was cut off.

"No, you used one of us for your pathetic excuse of a column. We aren't some sad excuses of a joke that you get to go home and write about. This is real life. This is Toby's real life and you've made him feel like it's one big joke."

Marlene walked out as well, deciding to check on Toby. If there was one thing the two could relate to; it was having a dead parent. Maybe it was why Marlene was so protective over him.

"How is he?" Marlene asked Liam who was on his way out of Toby's room.

Liam shook his head. "Not good."

Marlene nodded her head, walking past him and into Toby's room. Sitting next to the younger boy on his bed.

There wasn't any words she could say to comfort him. There's no possible way to comfort someone about a dead parent, it's a pain that never goes away.

"Tell me about your mum and dad." She said softy.

"What?" He asked her, his voice slightly horse.

Marlene smiled. "Tell me about your parents." She repeated.

Marlene sat on her bed, texting Jack when suddenly Sapphire came stomping in. "I thought you were going to that concert?" She asked, throwing her phone to the other end of her bed.

"I was, then Beaker happened." She rolled her eyes. "Going off on one about my dad. Like she'd know."

"Goes into care for a few years and suddenly she thinks she knows everything about everyone." Marlene rolled her eyes. "Sorry you didn't get to go to the concert."

A knock on the door caught their attention. "What now?" Sapphire groaned.

"I need your help!" Toby called, the two shared a confused look.

"Toby?" Sapphire asked.

"Please!" He called, knocking once again.

Marlene nodded her head. "Let him in." Sapphire opened the door, letting the boy in. "Toby? What happened?" She asked. He was covered in yellow paint, and looked worse than he did earlier on.

"Tracy was trying to help." He shrugged. "Can you read my cards?" He asked sapphire.

She hesitated before nodding. The two sat on her bed, Marlene sitting on the edge of hers as Sapphire got her cards and began to shuffle them.
