Marlene blushed, looking at the ground as she kicked a stone. "Might have been." She shrugged.

"It totally was." Sapphire laughed. "It's so obvious you're crushing on him!"

Marlene turned to her, mouth agape. "It is so not that obvious!" She argued, feeling slightly embarrassed that she had been caught out.

"Well, from what I've heard from Lucy, he's totally crushing on you as well." Sapphire shrugged: amused as she watched Marlene's face light up.

"How do you know Lucy?" She asked, her eyebrows furrowing together with confusion.

Sapphire shrugged. "We have a few classes together." She explained. "We're friends." She paused before noticing two people walking towards them. "Speaking of..."

It didn't take long for Marlene to recognize Jack and Lucy walking towards them. "I'm going to kill you." She whispered harshly, glaring in Sapphire's direction before the two new comers got too close.

"You're welcome." The older girl winked, walking over to Lucy and linking their arms together as the two walked ahead.

"Marlene, didn't know you'd be here." Jack smiled as the two began following Sapphire and Lucy. "I'm glad you are though."

Marlene grinned, praying her blush wasn't evident due to the darkness. "Yeah, well I didn't know I'd be here either." She chuckled. "Saffs fault."

"Well I'll have to thank her. I was hoping we could hang out sometime outside of school.." he paused remembering their time working on the project together. "Whilst we aren't doing school work."

Smiling softly, Marlene turned to look at him. "Really?" She asked, slightly surprised.

Jack nodded his head. "Yeah, I like hanging out with you. You're cool."

As the night went on, Marlene realized just how much she really enjoyed hanging out with Jack and she was reluctant to leave.

"So, I was thinking..." Jack began as the two were saying their goodbyes. "Maybe we could hangout again sometime. Just us two?"

Nodding her head, Marlene agreed, feeling butterflies flutter lightly in her stomach. "Yeah, I'd like that."

"What's going on?" Sapphire asked as she and Marlene walked out of their shared bedroom together

"What's going on?" Sapphire asked as she and Marlene walked out of their shared bedroom together. They'd gotten back an hour ago and had gone straight to bed.

"Sorry, my fault." A woman said. Marlene recognized her but couldn't put her finger on how. Her mind was still far too occupied with the events from earlier that night.
