"What do you mean you proposed to her!?" I whisper-yelled at Keith as I leaned against the side of my car. Today was move-in day for Nathan and he and my dad were helping out. They almost had everything moved in before he dropped that bomb. "I mean I proposed to her." He sighed, running a hand over his face. "And she said no?" I raised my brows in surprise, I thought for sure they'd be married by now.
"She wants to get to know herself or something." He somewhat explained as he lifted the last box out of my truck. "Well I mean you're kind of stupid for that anyways." I mumbled as I moved to close my trunk. "You and your mother have been trying to get me to propose to her for fifteen years." He reminded me with a weird look. "Yeah but you don't just skip to marriage Keith. You've only kissed once, you haven't slept together, you haven't dated or moved in together. Yes you've been super close all these years but still." I pointed out.
I had no doubt in my mind that Keith and Karen were inlove with each other and I still believe that one day they will get married but you can't just skip to marriage. "Oh I'm sorry, am I supposed to take it slow? I think raising a kid with her for the last fifteen years is pretty even." He replied and while that was a good point, they still needed more before marriage. "Don't tell your father, or anybody." He quickly whispered before he and Nathan approached us.
"I have an early practice, you boys good to be left alone?" I questioned as Keith started to walk off with the last box. "Yeah, I'll be in by lunch." Nathan stated before giving me a quick kiss. "I have to go too." My father patted his shoulder as he glanced down at his watch, seeing that class's start in a few minutes. "Wait, you're gonna leave me with Keith?" Nathan whispered as my father walked off to his jeep.
"He's your uncle, Nate and he was nice enough to help out." I shrugged. Keith was an amazing uncle, I knew that first hand and it wouldn't hurt for him and Nathan to finally start their relationship now that they could without Dan. "But I don't know the guy." Nathan pointed out as he awkwardly stuffed his hands into his pockets. "So get to know him." I chuckled as I turned to my car, opening up my door.
"You'll survive. Just offer him a Beer or something in thanks and then you guys can talk." He slowly nodded at my words as he leaned forward over my door, giving me another kiss before i boarded my car, speeding off to school. If I was even a minute late to cheer practice, I know Brooke would totally kill me.
I mentally cursed myself as I pulled into a parking spot in front of the school with only two minutes to spare before Brooke chews my head off. I grabbed my cheer bag and pom-pom's from my passenger seat before flinging my door open. My eyes widened in fear as it made contact with something. "Ow." Lucas' voice let out as he walked into my view. "Thank god." I sighed in relief, thankful I didn't hit another car.
"I need to talk to you." He let out as he looked off into nothing. He looked extra pale, like he seen a ghost or something. "Everything okay?" I questioned as I got out but I didn't give him a chance to respond before I started walking. "Walk and talk, if I'm late Brooke will kill me." I chuckled before noticing how tense he got at her name. Shit. I abruptly stopped, turning to him with questioning eyes. "What's going on, Luke?"
