"my darling girl is finally a woman," my grandmother said with glee seeing me in my graduation gown
I chuckled at her, then took my graduation cap and put it on her "What do you mean? was I not a woman when I turned 18?" I asked
"of course not darling but what I meant is that you can finally be you and chase whatever you desire now that you have a chance to get a job abroad"
"I told you Grandma you can come with me" I try
"you know me, Nova I would rather stay here," she says not budging "And besides what would I do there?"
She's right actually, she doesn't have anything to do there while I'm at work "Okay you're right but I'll never see you as I do now"
"you know that is why they invented phones so that they can make phone calls and texts," she says squeezing my cheeks "So you can communicate with me anytime"
I laughed at her comment, and swatted her hand away from my face "I love you Grandma" I said lovingly pulling her into a hug. As she hugged me back tightly she whispered I love you back. My lips curved into a large smile as she replied. "Can you cook for me tonight?" I asked pulling apart from her
She gave me a large grin before answering "You know I will darling" "Now come on, let's head home" she said and I nodded following her pursuit
As we started to walk towards the school gates, I bumped into my classmates who were taking pictures with their families and friends. They had large smiles on their faces. It was the perfect day for the graduation. With the sun shining upon the staff, professors, and students all was joyous and an all-out celebration at the school. Studying here was fun even though I wasn't exactly the type to chill around and have a fun time with my friends. My friends are the type to stay in and study all day; I liked that about them that's why we got along so well. There were times we thought we'd be carefree but I guess we chose to be more academically ready for the world.
"Byeong-Ho Moon?" I pulled myself out of my thoughts when I heard my name
I was faced with a tall figure gentleman wearing a sharp suit with his hair styled professionally "And of course Ms. Yura" the gentleman bowed to us both "Ms. Bridget wants to see you both as soon as possible" he said before pointing at a black car that has another man waiting
"Ms. Bridget? You mean my aunt?" I asked him
He didn't answer he just nodded still pointing at the car. Does that mean we should get in? I looked over at my grandmother and she looked half scared and confused staring at the black car. "Nova we should comply with this man's request," she said to me motioning me to go first "Don't worry we'll be okay, it's just Bridget," she said jokingly "And she's harmless"
I released a small chuckle at my grandmother then I made my way to the car nervously with my Grandma following my action. As we sat in the car the two gentlemen started the car and we were on the way. The car smelt new and the seats were comfortable to sit on. I know that my Grandma and my aunt aren't close with each other and technically my Grandma and my aunt aren't related by blood since Aunt Bridget isn't her daughter. Whenever my aunt wants to have a conversation with her, she doesn't usually include me. I find it odd that I haven't met her in years but now she requests to see me. I mean why now? Is it because I just graduated college? Or something else.
"We are here," one of the gentlemen said briefly looking back at us "Someone will guide you there"
The car door was opened by other men "Hello, it is a pleasure to meet you Ms. Byeong-Ho" they said as I got out of the car. I gave them a half smile feeling a little awkward "And of course, it is so good to see you, Ms. Yura" they said to my grandmother
